EOS Bodies / Re: Canon Confirms Development of High Megapixel Camera
« on: December 24, 2014, 05:00:57 PM »

Who cares? Not me that's for sure... "not sure when but sometime in 2015", sorry, life is not never ending, I waited a long time and had hoped for the 5D Mark IV to be announced at Photokina, yet nothing and then in NYC in October, again, nothing.

I decided to go with Nikon and although I think they are putting products out too fast, at least there is something there worth having, there was no way I was about to drop almost 2k on a 5D Mark lll and I just got tired of waiting, sorry Canon, some indicator of when would have been nice but at this point, all there is as usual are rumours, meanwhile, I need a camera to actually get on with taking photos.

Another consideration for a flash extender is the "Harbor Digital XT Flash Extender Kit".

No assembly required
Extremely light
Won't burn flash head

Color cast and soft images will find your way with inferior filters. I love Lee Filters as well until you wait an indefinitely ite time for their big stopper.

Technical Support / Hyperfocal Focusing Painlessly?
« on: June 22, 2013, 08:23:09 PM »
I'll be photographing almost exclusively landscapes in Colorado and Utah in the coming week and I'm trying to figure out the most painless way to ensure that foreground to background will be tack sharp. I'll be using a 1D Mark IV along with a 16-35L II mostly at 19mm at F11.

There are so many ways I've seen on the net to achieve this but I've had hit and miss results with my practicing lately. I have a DOF calculator on my smartphone and have been using it as such.

My method so far has been to focus one-third in setting my autofocus point to the bottom row, locking the focus and then turning the lens to infinity.

I'm very open to suggestions here but would prefer to keep it reasonly uncomplicated. Thank you in advance.

EOS Bodies / 580 or 600 for 1D Mark IV
« on: June 05, 2012, 04:50:22 PM »
I'm debating which flash  would be the better choice when mated with my 1d Mark 4. If I'm not misraken the New 600 is rhe the newer vodies. I don't expect Canon to have a firmware update to work with the new flash. What do you guys think? Rhanks in advance!

I'm just really hoping that there will finally be a few original 500 f4 going on the used market soon.  They seem to be very hard to find right least here in southern Ontario.

I have a feeling the price of version 1 used is going to climb because of the price increase of v2. I bought a V1 500F4 brand new in December 2011 after I saw the anticipated increase of the upcoming. I understand there maybe a couple of stops better with the new IS and it's noticeable lighter but these long lenses now are mostly unreachable in price.

I can see most replies to this thread show disappointment with the new pricing. What really scared me is Sony just released their version of the 500F4 and they want $13,000.

Can't say I've owned the 100-400 but I use my 70-300 frequently and find it to be very contrasty, sharp with great IS (4-stop) but the deciding point might be the reach and when used with a full frame, the 100-400 might be more appealing. Don't listen to the myth about the push pull being a vacuum. I hear its a perpetuated myth.

Makes be glad I bought mine 5 months ago for 4000.00 less.
