i too have had problems with BR straps, one time i wash shooting in Florida, a fashion shoot on a boat, the boat took a turn a little too sharp, and my D4 + 70-200 Nikon lens detached it self from the strap and went over the side of the boat and duly sank.

I now use thread lock on the mount to make sure it's secure and i check it before every shoot where the camera can get damaged.

i feel for you, as it's never nice to see a camera get damaged due to a part failing.

I use BR straps because i don't see a good enought alternative on the market.

oh. my. god.  0_0 did you franticly jump in the water to get it? or did you just see it godown and that was that.

70-400 2.8 IS .

this. hahahah, for an arm and a leg. 70-400 would seem like a nice focal length though. i still wouldnt mind push pull. either or would be fine imho.

Agreed with everyone else, dont need to repeat obviously, but such a consistent opinion means a lot I feel in your case. regardless, keep us posted on how things go.

What "innovations" has Nikon brought to the table recently? Technology is pretty good these days. If people switch systems every time the competition has a marginally better spec'd product on paper... you'll be spending a LOT of time and money switching back and forth rather than taking photos.

well said.

as much as I love canon, Nikon has their great products as well. I honestly have no hate, and both excel in their tasks. Some nikons may be better and some canon may be better, but if you seem that invested and with such great gear, not unless you are pouring cash out of your nose, then i dunno. Seems like such a waste of money. maybe if this was the case if you had a rebel or a D40, then switching to either company may be easier... or maybe have both? I dunno.

what I do agree with though are the prices canon sometimes have for their products, despite that they may be great products, sometimes overpriced and canon (this goes for you as well nikon) go hand in hand.

great opinion, but I feel that there seems to be too much negativity in your thinking. and with all the gear you have, producing great work isnt all in the camera itself.

nobody wants f4 !! gaaahh. why is it not 2.8 ! and if its 24-70 f4, then would it be the same price and/or cheaper than the 24-105? to me... i dunno, doesnt really seem worth it atm. even if the glass is better its debatable.

sigh, IS would be sooo great for video... but im sure it would cost an arm and a leg ... more than version 2.

not to mention i hate playing the waiting game, I bet I can wait a year, give up, buy the non is one and the BAM.. IS.

ugh april... i hope there is a lot more to come than just these two things, which, are great btw, but AF illumination i want badly !

imo, both companies make great stuff and I dont think you would be disappointed with either. for me, I just happened to pick up canon first.

EOS Bodies / Re: Best FF option
« on: September 25, 2012, 03:28:48 PM »
mrk 2 could be interesting, as if you are only using low iso's then it wont matter to yeah? mrk 3 is a nice camera.

imo, how about you try renting out a few bodies, for a day or however long you feel and then you make a decision like that? because I feel that buying camera bodies is sometimes like buying speakers. you can read 10000000 reviews but you gotta hear it (or in this case try it out)

have you done this at all yet??

EOS Bodies / Re: Next Big Megapixel Camera From Canon - Grip or No Grip?
« on: September 25, 2012, 03:17:42 PM »
You might want to add an option:
Will buy the camera even without built-in grip, but will purchase add-on grip for portrait orientation shooting.

I agree on that, a grip that you would have to add afterwards wouldnt be soo bad .. I suppose. but its worth the voting, as some people still do it.

EOS Bodies / Re: Comparing 6D with 5D3
« on: September 25, 2012, 03:15:39 PM »
id stick with the mrk3. Im hopefully making such a purchase soon, and the 6D is kinda cool spec wise, but I dunno, for me, the better build, the feel, the AF, 100 percent viewfinder and weather sealing is real nice. oh and dual cards is real nice. I would imagine that the video could be better. the extra fps would be real nice too. an extra added punch. as nice as the 6D would be especially from your xsi upgrade (im on a 40D still) then either would initially feel amazing, but id go mrk3. especially because its older brother, mrk2 had such a history.

the day that ever comes back...

D: maybe it can?! bringing back that EOS 3 * (correct me if im wrong) seeing it shares a very similar name
