I got it to work somedays. But finally I ended up with the WFT. The Eye-Fi connection was only working near the access point and the speed to slow. It could be a solution when you dont want to connect the camera to the computer when you come home and let the card do the download over night.

I use the CF Adapter from time to time where I have the need to interchange files on SD basis. It works quite well but you should have in mind that the SD's are not as fast as the CF's.

I am right in the same situation and after knowing the price of the 5D3 I have decided to postpone my purchase at least after the olympics or to make a christmas present to myself  . But anyhow I will get the 5D3 and not the 5D2.

In regards of the olympics this year the pro's will have there new bodies and canon would do better to keep an eye of flawless firmware. Therefore, i dont expect a new bodie for the amateur.
But on the other hand there are also some rewards to get (EISA, TIPA,...) and for that, in my opinion, canon has to take some effort. Currently i don't see a serious candidate.

"Accessorized" GPS geotagging is silly on behalf of Canon, disables flash capability as the GPE2 occupies the hot shoe and the post processing alternative takes time. It must become standard in-camera feature just as in-camera date imprint did eliminating the old databacks. How much space would the extra circuitry occupy in the camera body anyway. It's not gadgetry, it's a very useful feature just as in-camera file sorting is.

Maybe we'll get it with the 5D Mark IV

Let the DXO guys do their job. These two cameras are good in their own right. I am happy with what Canon has done as thats the camp I am in (lenswise).

That's the point, and, as long as the cost of the 5D3 is over 3k I will invest in additional glas... Hope the new 100-400 is comming soon...

I had the same wishes (Geotagging) with my 7D. Therefore I bought the WFT and a very tiny USB-Bluetooth Dongle from HAMA. As GPS device I'm using the QSTARZ BT-Q1000XT Travel recorder. It has an amazing long lasting battery life and the battery is replaceable. The only thing I miss is the direction information.
But i still hope that with the next Firmware Upgrade of the 7D the remaining functionality of the GP-E2 will also be available.

Keep in mind that there are a lot of 5D2 which are not already sold. Therefore I expect that it will be at least 25%-30% higher as the current 5D2 (unfortunately).

I would suggest to buy the normal f-pro from B+W. I don't think that there is a viewable difference to the (limited) Gold-Series. 
Don't forget that you also should have a polarizing and probably some gray (ND) filters in premium quality.

It is really a mess with all this different accessories and spare parts. I would also suggest to by an identical second camera with lens (you need at lest a second kit lens, because both of you would like to use the same lens at the same time). The 60D is quite a nice camera and it is not very long on the market. Save the money and spend (here we can say invest) it into good glass.

Yes I tried it once before I got my CF Cards. It worked - even with a Eye-Fi Card.
The problem is that the speed of an SD-Card is not comparable to CF-Cards. If you want to use high speed sequences of pictures you have to take this into account.

There are nice gadgets on the market that use the USB protocol to control your camera. With these you can make HDR's (and more) in any manner you want. Go on and google for promote control.
