Lenses / Re: Tilt-shift 'toy effect'

I've only used one focal length, so I can't give a comparison. I believe the difference between 17mm and 45mm (for example) in DOF will be dramatic, just like it would be if you compared non-TS versions of these lenses.

That being said, your subject matter might dictate the focal length you use anyway. I took this with a 35mm TS on a full-frame camera:

I couldn't have backed up any more in the spot I was standing, and I wished for a 24mm TS instead. 45mm would not have worked and 90mm was out of the question.

I have this same issue after defining a custom setting C1. It's kinda funny but not a big deal, I'm sure it'll get fixed in the next firmware update.

It's obvious by looking at the buildings in the full JPG you uploaded that this is simply due to the JPEG quality being set extremely low on Lightroom export - the buildings are full of compression artifacts too, you're just causing banding by extreme JPEG compression.

In the Export menu of Lightroom, scroll down to the "file settings" section and crank up the Quality slider. 80 or 90 looks good. Make sure that "limit file size" isn't ticked.

Both of the images are mine--I have obscured the watermark only to keep my privacy.
You realize that that doesn't work, right? You could find that image simply by searching for the team name on the top, but a much easier way is to use the new feature of Google Image Search and just search for the image itself.

Lenses / Re: Voigtlander APO-macro 125mm
« on: March 20, 2012, 12:36:02 PM »
The Voigtlander APO-macro 125mm is a 1x macro, unlike the ZE 100mm makro-planar, which is only 0.5x.

It's expensive, and is out-of-production. I've seen it going for $2000-3500 on eBay.

The test results from this lens are absolutely beautiful. If I were going crazy buying macro gear, this would be at the top of my list (with the MP-E 65 straight afterwards). Here's the test results at photozone.de:

That link just gives an "access denied" error message, I guess it depends on having the right cookies.

I'll PM you with a download link, OP.

Both cameras will be so much better than a crop camera that you'll be satisfied either way.

That snow example has (to my eye) a white halo of similar magnitude on the inside of the edge, so it really looks like a sharpening issue instead of some sensor problem.

EOS Bodies / Re: 30 Minute Video Limit: Make it EU-only?
« on: March 04, 2012, 12:06:26 AM »
If the Magic Lantern team can do anything with the 5D Mark III, they'll be able to remove this limit. It'll be considerably easier than with other cameras since the 5D Mark III can already split its videos up into 4GB chunks.

Can you post a link to one of the photos which has this problem?

does this make sense ?

Is that... an EOS camera? It couldn't be the Mark III, surely...? New fast 50mm lens? They didn't show the aperture marking.

The duplicated page is back up at Canon Australia's site. It remains identical to the 5D Mark II page, however.
