Might consider to replace my 400mm f5.6 L and have a good range when needing to stay light on the backpack

For what is worth, Adorama has run out of stock for body-only. My order is pending and the status says: Back ordered  :(

The longer this goes without RAWs being available the more incredulous I become.  For the point & shoot crowd that's just looking for a crop (for some reason), I'm sure this'll be great. For sports/wildlife/action people I think we need to reserve judgment until we see an actual RAW posted that we can play around with. Or better yet two: one from the 7D, one from the 7Dii of the same shot, like what you have here.

There are downloadable RAWs in Imaging Resource, but you have to open them with another RAW processor application, RAWTherapee is one, it opens the raws without problem and I think very neutral (no presets)

Until I see with my own eyes that Canon did a good job in Dynamic Range and noise handling, I keep my thoughts to myself, other than that I don't see anything groundbreaking

EOS Bodies / Re: Are you planning to purchase a 7D2

Well having right now a 5D Mk III and 7D mk I, would only consider doing an extreme switch, selling both bodies and purchase a 6D and 7D Mk II.

I find myself using mostly the 7D since I do bird photography for hobby, the 5D Mk III is my travel, portrait and product photography camera and I really do not use its AF to it's capacity, so it's under used, also noticed that the 6D has better noise handling than the 5D mk III.

So... if the 7D Mk II improves, I may consider making the jump on both sensor sizes.

Wow, talk about keeping that 7D alive!

Just when I sold mine expecting Mk II next year...

if This claim made by ML it's doable and won't damage anything in the cameras in the future, makes me wonder if Canon is doing only half the work or if they are not investing in the best people.

I'm not really hopping that Canon will improve much on noise and DR.

Probably most of the pictures will be processed through DPP to have it cleaned and ready to show. Also the cameras will have a NR that will make images look soft.

EOS Bodies / Re: 5D Mk III Firmware, any news?

Well let's hope they keep interest in making the 5D MK3 capable of focusing at f8, that's my main interest right now

EOS Bodies / 5D Mk III Firmware, any news?
« on: April 02, 2013, 07:13:49 AM »
April has just arrived and the date for the new 5D Mk III firmware to address a few things like Autofocus at f8 should be released, let's see if Canon lives to expectation

The actual 7D is a great camera and really like it's AF. What drives me mad is the noise even at ISO 200, the benefits of the 18mp resolution for cropping is not worth.

I don't think Canon will have better sensor technology readily available with lower noise... I'd have preferred that they made a whole new 18mp sensor with better noise handling and really improved DR that the actual 7D is lacking, at least they should come close to what the Nikon D7000 (not the D7100) did with 16mp to have something to be called Updated.

I really hope this lens brings good quality, at least comparable to the Canon EF 300mm f/4 L IS or 400mm f/5.6 L and gets well along with the Teleconverters. I had the Sigma 120-400mm that I know it's lower on the line but ir was awful when compared to any canon zoom.

For thePrice this Sigma 120-300 2.8, will hardly match the new Canon EF 300mm f2.8 L Mk II
