EOS Bodies / Re: Update on the EOS 7D Mark II Spec List
« on: August 23, 2014, 10:28:17 AM »
Hello,
first of all, I take my Pictures with 5D MKII and MK III and owner of 7 L-lenses. During the last 2 years I did an update of my Equipment for more than 15.000 € now. Two years ago I considered to change to Nikon due to the innovations they presented with e.g. D800 or D800E especially the high resolution of the sensors. This based on the fact that I sell my pictures as prints and build up a Business with stock photos. Aside the Picture itself the technical data and expected resolutions continuously rising. At that time I thought Canon will follow Nikon and Sony and also be more innovativ.

Today I´m angry about my decision. The reasons are:
- No high resolution sensors with a quality like Nikon
- Arrogance of Canon in their behaviour with their Clients
- Price policy for new II-lenses

The high resolution and the quality of Nikon and Sony shows that this is not a game and that
high resolutions doesn´t mean low quality at low light Images.

Fact is that I will check again how much I will get for my current Canon Equipment and than I will decide if
to switchover to Nikon

regards
Juergen

And at the same time, a Nikon\Sony user is selling their stuff so they can come to Canon.

I wonder if they are looking at MF as a way to get more pixels, as they don't seem to be able to get much more on the current sensor fab. Bigger sensor, more pixels, but again, their goes all the R&D from APS-c and 35mm DSLR's. If Canon did decide to develop a MF, would they need to develop a sensor? The current MF systems all use a universal sensor pack from 1 of the two companies that offer them? Except leica of course. OK, enough rambling..

Dumb question. If I buy the 2x convertor for my 300L f4 IS, it will become f8. Will a 60D center focus work or only the 5d3 and 1dx?

Thjanks in advance!

I wish it was only that long... I'm married.   ;D

The only thing I can say about this camera is that it does not look like the nice expensive DSLR's. It looks like one of those old cameras that a thief won't even want to steal. That's the good thing about it...... and that's about it.

If you're not stuck on CANON, there are a lot of other excellent imaging machines out there, worth considering.

Nikon D5300 w 18-140mm if you can afford it, fast, good video, no touch screen tho but does have articulating display.
Nikon D5200 - on price reduction or kitted with extra lenses.
Nikon D5100 if you can still find them- low cost, great images

Pentax K-30 or K-50 with 18-135mm WR lens - tough and weather/spill resistant

Fast focusing mirrorless cameras:

Fuji X-A1 or X-M1 w 16-50mm lens  fits in your budget, great image quality, good features, interchangeable lens

Fuji X-E1 with 18-55mm lens, taking it up a notch

Olympus Pen E-P5 with 14-42 lens or one of the many other good micro 4/3rds camera systems

All the above cameras compete well, if not exceed in some cases, any APS-C Canon body out there.

You must not have seen the part about wanting to shoot video along with photos.

Thanks for all the info. I thought I'd let everybody know that I had decided on the Canon Teleconverter. I did save a little extra money and Purchased a new MK3 version. Since I had to save a little extra money to be able to purchase this, I just got it a couple weeks ago.

Been using it as much as possible and I think it does a great job! I do want to get a longer lens, but that will have to wait a lot longer.

Thanks for all the information and posts.

Looks like the creature from Alien that has the double set of teeth. That's just my opinion... Could be rapper too.

Mine loads very fast too.... unless there's a Nikon ad, than I have to reboot to get the green tint off my screen. My phone loads fast too.

Technical Support / Which is really better? Kenko 1.4 or Canon 1.4 Mark II?
« on: September 04, 2013, 09:31:19 PM »
I have a chance to get a nice used Canon 1.4 II TC for the same price as the Kenko 1.4 pro 300 DGx. I'm not worried about weather sealing, as I don't really shoot much in the rain. It will be mainly to increase the range on my 70-200 F4 IS for getting a little closer to the birds that sit on the branches around my feeders that are about 25 ft from me. I can get some nice shots, but I'd like to fill the frame a little bit more. Other info.. I use a Canon 60D and I mount on a tripod with a wired trigger with mirror lock-up.

I know their will be a loss in image quality, but is one better than the other for the least amount of loss?

Thanks in Advance,
Matthew

EOS Bodies / Re: 70D vs D7100 ISO Comparison at 100%
« on: September 02, 2013, 05:24:36 PM »
BOB N has now presented the figures for 70D regarding read out noise, DR etc
here we can se 70d in comparison with one Toshiba and one Sony made sensor
The read out noise is 4,35 times higher , compare this to 5dmk3 vs d800 there 5dmk3 has 12,2 times higher read out noise.

Dumb question? Why is the sensor for the Canon dated 10/1/2010 on this chart? Isn't that a little odd if the 70D uses a new sensor??
