Software & Accessories / Lightroom Presets
« on: May 10, 2012, 10:43:01 PM »
I have Lightroom installed.  I downloaded a preset and installed it and it shows up in lightroom.  I apply the preset to my picture and my picture changes.

My question is, is there an option or a place I can view all the changes that preset made?

Like a split toning, noise reduction etc.  I go through all the options on the right and I can only find 2 things that changed from default and if I reset the picture and apply those 2 settings manually the picture does not look anywhere near the preset picture.

EOS Bodies - For Video / Re: Magic Lantern on the 5D Mark III

Having no knowledge of Magic Lantern, what can I except this to offer me for someone who doesn't shoot video?

Allows you to shoot in both landscape and portrait all while keeping the camera in the same spot without the need to readjust your tripods height and alignment and your camera is not hanging off the side of the tripod head.

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon, STOP shipping defective products!!!

Loving my 5DMiii shooting everyday.

"STOP shipping the defective products immediately. Whether it affects real world shooting or not"

I bet 99% of the electronics you own have defects and you don't know about them.  Weather it's a resistor not resisting the exact amount of current or 1 pixel on your tv that is only putting out 99% of the light it should.

You really should be bitching at every company and not just Canon.  Fridge, Microwave, the shingles on your roof wearing prematurely, the list goes on.

This is the first time a product has been released that has not been perfect, I demand my money back because it's not perfect!

Just get out there and shoot.  This won't effect you when you're sitting in front of a beautiful waterfall enjoying yourself in nature listening to the water flowing and the bird chirping.

To me this seems like a simple error in the firmware.  They've called the wrong function when switching modes and once it's been called it's in memory and doesn't go away until the camera is reset.

Canon probably doesn't know about the issue because they can't test everything but once they know about I'm sure they'll have someone look in to it and weather they fix it or not will be weighed by the Canon team.

It's the same with World Of Warcraft.  They have thousands of issues but they need to pick their battles because they don't have the time, the money and the manpower to fix everything.

These camera's are not simple like film.  They have many many circuits inside with many computer chips then the tens of thousands of lines of code to run the functions of the camera.

I just hope our major gripes will not be put on the back burner but fixed.

We'll just have to wait and see.

P.S
If you bought the camera and can return it because you don't like these bugs, do it.
If you bought the camera and can't return it, just write your comments and complains down and forward them to canon and hope for the best.

EOS Bodies / Re: 5D Mark III Recall Update?
« on: April 16, 2012, 12:46:01 PM »
Do you want the camera yes or no?

You'll wait 2 months to hear about if there is going to be a recall and all that time you won't be shooting with the camera you want.

For me, in 2 months I'll send it in if I have to and have it back within the week and I'll have had months of enjoyment with my wonderful camera.  Plus they will check and clean my camera and load any new firmware on it too.

The guy told me I'll have my camera this Friday or Monday at the latest.

So if anyone here in Ontario wants one get into Henry's ASAP and you'll have one real soon :)

EOS Bodies / Re: Mandatory Autofocus and Shutter Sounds

It's not all that different than legislation aimed at making hybrid and EV cars emit and "engine noise".  You have to love the nanny state.

My friend who is blind and routinely walks down town would be pretty upset to not be able to hear any cars.  He counts on the sounds to be able to judge distances, which way cars are moving, if they are stopped etc when crossing the street.
