I have no idea what this is meant to be.  Feels a little bit weird to be honest. Not the best promotion video I have seen so far.

Kind regards

Where is the AF capability at f/8, all the specs and preview pages I have read so far have not mentioned this.  :(

I don't see the f/8 AF anywhere, but it has the rest of the rumoured AF bits, including the metering system. Really want to play with this!

The Canon 7D Mark II introduces a brand new autofocus (AF) module inspired by the professional level AF system in the Canon 1 DX. It features 65 AF points spread across a significant portion of the frame, with especially wide horizontal coverage. All of these AF points are cross-type (when using lenses with a maximum aperture of f/5.6 or faster), with the center AF point capable of high-precision, dual cross-type focusing with wider aperture (f/2.8 and faster) lenses. Additionally, the center point is capable of focusing with lenses (or lens/teleconverter combinations) as slow as f/8, as well as down to EV -3. This gives that center point a 1 EV advantage in low light compared to the 1D X and 5D Mark III.

This thread meaks me sick! Damn you guys! Everytime I click it, I expect something very awesome... :). But to be honest, I don't think that we will see a Canon prototype on the olymic games, regardless if they use them or not.

The EOS 7D Mark II will finally be unveiled and should be in your eager hands by the fall of 2014. It will set a new benchmark in the APS-C segment.

Lets take a look on the upgrade cycle:

xxxxD Series - every three years

xxxD Series - quite every year

xxD Series - up to two years

xD Series - 7D and the 1DsIII on top with up to six years. All the others between two and four years.

Why does it take forever for the 7D? This makes just no sense to me. I'm just quite sick of waiting... I even start thinking about buying a used 1DIV or a new 5DIII. Come on Canon, hurry up!

Lenses / Re: 7D user - advice on my best option for a 'go to' lens?
« on: January 16, 2014, 10:38:57 AM »
I used the 24-105 for a long time on my 7D. It takes time to feel comfortable with 24mm on a crop DSLR, but its a great lens if you use it outdoors, especially cause its sealed. For walk around I mostly use the Sigma 18-35 at the moment. The IQ of this lens is really great, even at f/1.8! But at the long end its a bit to short quite often.  But all in all I would recommend you the 24-105 if you feel fine with 24mm on a crop.

Kind regards,
Robert

EOS Bodies / Re: 7D shutter count

I tried shutter actuations the other day and I couldn't figure it out.  It just tried to load software that I didn't not want.

I'm sorry for that. I tried it on Windows 7 x64 and even on Windows XP x32. Both worked.

I tried a few resources yesterday and I couldn't find a program or website that would give me the sitter count on a 7d.  I have used astro jargon before, but alas, not compatible with the 7d.

Anyone want to point me in the right direction?

This worked for me: http://www.shutteractuations.com/?did=1

7D + 17-40, 24-105 and 70-200 II last winter at around -12°C for about two hours with nasty winds. Everything worked fine, except my fingers.

None of them.

20/21 Megapixel with 9/10 frames per second, two CF card slots, superfast Hybrid AF System (usable down to -5 EV), new sensor design, new battery, ISO usable to 3200, outstanding image quality from ISO 50 to ISO 800, AEB (with 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 shots), build in electronic ND and GND filter, shutter durability up to 200.000 shots and without all the junk like in camera HDR, HTP, ALO, rate function etc.
+1 but by now I would be happy with a bit less mp and fps

Don't confuse biggest company/most sales with "best".  Unless you consider GM the best cars and Budweiser the "best" beer on the planet (it's actually The Chinese beer, Snow).  Interestingly, in almost all markets, the "best" brands are not the mass appeal brands.  Maybe knowing how to sell the most cameras does not mean knowing how to make or sell the best cameras.

The selling’s says how good a product is. My business economics teacher always told us that and he often compared this with Windows and Macintosh :). He also mentioned that the Czechs make the best beer - Don't know if something of the mentioned is true, but I definitely agree with the beer statement :)
