« on: August 18, 2012, 09:59:11 PM »
Just came back from a trip to New York and recently edited this shot. I think it's a good one!
Taken with my new 5D Mark III and 16-35mm lens.

HDR - High Dynamic Range / Re: New HDRs with MacBook Pro with Retina Display
« on: July 23, 2012, 11:29:15 AM »So how are the screen colors? Are they better than on cinema display?
I previously owned the 27" iMac. To my knowledge, Apple uses the same display in the 27" cinema display. I've found that colors and contrast are more accurately represented on the retina display in the new MacBook Pro than on the iMac. The processing speed difference was also minimal so I sold my iMac.
I use the 5D Mark III. I took this shot with these shots with the 16-35mm f2.8 II Lens
Yes, the retina display is not what makes these photos look the way they do. I processed them with a tone mapping technique similar to Trey Ratcliff. So thanks for mentioning him! He's one of my photography idols

I can't wait until Adobe updates Photoshop to take full advantage of the resolution on the new MacBook Pro.

Software & Accessories / Stuck On Earth (app for iPad)
« on: June 10, 2012, 11:11:52 PM »
I just started using this iPad app, and I love it! It makes life so simple by finding awesome secret locations to shoot.
I think it's so useful for any photographer. Whether you're a landscape shooter, street photographer, even wedding photographers can use this to find interesting backgrounds for their pre/post wedding shoots.
I just made a review/tutorial on my new website: http://ComposingTheMoment.com/stuck-on-earth-app/

5D MK III Sample Images / Re: A few new shots with my 5D Mark III
« on: May 17, 2012, 06:45:56 PM »Great shots. I really diggin' the first image. How long of an exposure did you use? Thanks! I used an eight second shutter speed for the normal exposure. It's an HDR, so there's also one faster and a longer one in there.
I like 2nd pix.
If you don't mind....what HDR software do you use?
Thanks
Dylan
Thanks! I use Photomatix and then Photoshop CS5.

5D MK III Sample Images / Re: A few new shots with my 5D Mark III
« on: May 16, 2012, 11:47:23 PM »pretty nice shots. i am impressed with the apparent lack of noise in the sky in shot 1 and the lack of noise in shot 4. i admit that i had a "mental" wow moment.
the 2nd shot seems to be a well handled HDR exposure. not sure if thats a true testament to the camera as the HDR process is so destructive to the pixel structure. not a fair way to judge a camera imo but it is a nice shot.
the 3rd shot has very unpleasant colors. if we were talking portfolio that one would be my first to go.
thank you for sharing though, its nice to see some work from someone using the camera creatively. would definitely like to see more.
Thanks a lot for your comments. I really appreciate you leaving your feedback.
I definitely agree that this isn't a fair way to judge the image quality of the camera since these photos were heavily processed, but I thought I'd post them because that's how I actually use the 5D in the real world.

« on: May 16, 2012, 11:41:33 PM »i usually don't like HDR shots, but that second one of the door is pretty sweet. what did you use to process it - that can't be in camera processing?
Thanks! It's not in camera processing, I use Photomatix and Photoshop CS5 to process my HDRs.
