Its way to much money.. Its wont even focus with the lenses cap on for my night shots.  Well ok maybe someday if I get a big tax return.

Into the sun This photo was taken at a rest stop in Florida off I-10 its on a display stand about 30 feet in the air ok yes I did use a filter on my lense and taken with a canon 5D mk 3

Not sure I understand you wanting a 70D anyway you list you have a 5D3 and a 60D now. Anyway theres no telling if or when a 70D may show up or what the MP will be. The 7D is very good but getting old but still very good. And if you just need a back up camera look at the new 650D its cheap and 18MP with a good AF system.

Canon UK is going to fix it. not just inspect it. The products affected by this issue will be inspected and repaired free of charge after 10 May 2012 therefore you are kindly requested to contact one of our authorised service facilities. So It seems Canon UAS will do the same and fix it.

I have taken many pictures with my 7D. I find that having the Highlight Tone Priority Disable help's
But if your unhappy you need to try a new camera because you will never be happy now that your mind is made up that the camera is junk. Also your pictures lack color that pops out at you. Just look around at the thousands of pictures on the wed that where made by people using the canon 7D and you can see its a good camera.  But it needs light and a good lens. I also have a 50D and it takes gerat pictures. I am a truck driver not a photo guy. for 20 years I have been driving all over the country taken pictures. Day in and day out the 50D cant match the detail in my photos with the 7D. lately I have been going to places I have shot before just to re-do with the 7D. Either I am getting better or the 7D is just better. Its a good, very good camera. I also dont go 100% crop when looking a my pictures. Whats the point of that. My main lens is a 17-40L and I have a 70-200 f4 IS and 50 f1.4 and 85 f1.8 No matter what camera you have someone will say its junk for one reason or another. As far as people saying that the 30D and 40D take just as good of pictures well yes there right, Up to a point.

One as to ask just what camera are you using now. You dont own a 5D2 and your printing out photos that a 7D can't handle at just 18MP........ wow

also in another post about the 7D you say (I think its at the limit of lens resolving power with 18mp, so there likely wouldn't be an increase in resolution) so what lens are you GOING to be using on a 30 MP 5D mk3

You have a good camera in the 60D sure the 7D is a bit better but, If you going to get deeper in to this you shoud gofo L glass  like a 17 to 40 or 70 to 200 a good 28,50,85 and so on. I am not sure about buying EF-S glass, if you go someday for a FF camera they will have to be sold. I would say for now the 60D will do anything you will ask of it and more. Good photos are made by taking good shots, not alway by buying a somewhat better camera. Save your money. Get L glass and then a FF camera like a 5D mk3. yes it will show up someday.

That little tip I left on the post was not meant to never use more then one AF point nor did I mean never us the upper or outer ones on single. There are times that in using all the AF points or full auto the camera of any type ( AF points 9-19-45) can lock on a area in the frame that is closes to the camera and leave the subject out of focus.  Like some people laying on the grass. The cameras bottom AF points can lock on the grass 5 feet in front leaving the people out of focus depending on the f stop.  As far a just using the center point I see it as away for beginner to get off to good start. I never intended it to be a set rule. Using all 19 points will work yes that’s what there for. It all is dependent on what your shooting. And yes if using a 85mm set at f/1.2 recomposing is not going to work out to well.

I am not a expert. But the f/1.8 will remain the same. Yes it will go from 200mm to 320mm by cropping not by magnification.  Remember crop frame cameras don’t magnify the image. It just looks that way. If you add a 1.4 converter of some type that magnifies the image then yes you lose a f stop. The DOF is shallower on FF but at some point in the affect of adding MM by  1.6 crop it will look the same. Or so I would think.

  Congratulations you will love it. Just take it slow and let your experience level grow. Some people just go off and take a million photos and they don’t turn out to good and get down on camera and all that. Only to learn it was not the camera. There’s just a learning curve and getting to know how to get the better results they are looking for. One tip I found helpful at first was to use just one focus point and not all 19. So it will focus on what you need it to. Congratulations

Canon is losing  it, Their prices are out of control on the new lens their coming out now days. 1600 dollars for a 70-300 f/4-5.6L where’s the value in that. And no tripod mount! Ok add in another 200 dollars.  Who’s going to buy that, The pro shooter NO!. Mom and Dad to shoot their little Boy or Girl at the ball game or on stage at the grand opening for some school play NO!. People taking that first trip to Hawaii NO!. The wedding photographer NO! Maybe all the portrait studios NO!.  How about the everyday type street shooter,  The all around shooter. Well for them it’s heavy to carry all day. Ok so that leaves us the wildlife shooters Yes!. But only the ones that have given up on or won’t save for the better lens of 400 to 500mm. When all is said and done this lens is 1800 dollars with no tax or shipping. You better know what your doing to spend that kind of money and people that know what there doing wont buy this lens. Its to slow and has almost no bokeh. Unless your shooting up close flowers at 300mm and no one that loves to shoot flowers at a foot away is going to but this lens. Is there a place for this lens in today’s market YES! But not at this price. The 70-300 f/4-5.6 IS USM is 508.00 on Amazon as of today. Canon needs and should have up graded this lens and sale it for 799.00 to 899.00  at 4-5.6 it’s a lens for people that just want a littler better color and sharpness and bokeh on the football gridiron. For now anyone that can spend that 2000 dollars is of course going to buy the 70-200 f/2.8L IS USM   I or II. As they should. If you have to have 300mm for that one shot add a 1.4 Extender. Get out and have fun.
