Lenses / Re: Thoughts on Having a 35 and a 50 on Crop?
« on: October 13, 2014, 01:03:41 AM »
Thanks.  Thought that maybe 24 and 50 were "better", but I try to keep things to a minimum and already have the EOS M/22mm.

The gap from 24mm to 50mm is huge.

I've bought and sold so many gear on Ebay, and have had no issues.  The only problem I ever had with Ebay was

LOL classic.

Try reading the rest of the sentence. His problem was actually with Paypal and thus he had "no issues" with Ebay.

Paypal is part of eBay.

f/4 makes sense for an UWA. You can't use depth of field to separate subjects at that focal length and you can hand-hold pretty long exposures at 11mm.

But what happens when you are at 24mm and working a fairly standard environmental portrait and want maximum subject separation? Or when you are in a Siberian reindeer herders chum at 20,000iso and need the f2.8?

F4 doesn't make sense when you just brought out an f4 16-35 with IS and your ultra wide/wide choice doesn't have a single AF lens worth a damn below f4 all the way to 24mm.

A second body with the 24/1.4L perhaps?

Everyone knows that Nasa goes with Nikon, and we have all watched and loved the beautiful timelapes by Don Pettit and other Astronauts on the ISS, shot on Nikons.

and the Radiation of space will destroy the Censors in time anyways .. so .. lets relax Canon .. Nikon still rules space..

all BS aside, I'm very excited to see this in IMAX. I remember "The Dream is Alive" from when I was a kid. I had my get me the VHS after we saw it in the Theater in Winnipeg. Space! I love it

Winnipeg you say?

I voted for Don't need nothing —whatever that means.

To date, Canon has issued only 5 lens firmware updates.  Four of them are covered by this advisory, the other I referred to above, which was available for download and application via camera body.

There was the 200/2 IS issue ith the 5d3, among other teles.

Was the fix for that issue a lens firmware update?  The Canon service advisory mentions only 'repair'.

I'm not sure, since image quality was not an issues, I never sent mine in.

very nice. If I didn't have to pay the mortgage and car loan, I'd order now.  Meanwhile, I'll buy a few lottery tickets and if I win........

Sell the car.

Every frame in focus.....hmmm

At that distance with the ef 14mm f2.8 L, I'd guess all frames would be in focus, so the statement made is probably true.

Wow!  Really F6.3 being marketed as a sports lens?  Maybe on the planet Venus.  Rarely is F6.3 enough to stop sports action.

If you're that close to the sun, an f16 lens will do.
