Apart from the weather sealing, actually I feel that the paint quality of 5D3 is not as good as 5D2.

My 5 month-old 5D3 suffered so many more scratches and paint drops than my 3.5 year-old 5D2!

I have the 35L currently and it is razor sharp at f/1.4, full frame. The only thing I think Mark II can improve on is the weather sealing.

The camera itself looks real. But the "Mark III" bagde looks more like a sticker.  Go check the "Mark..." bagde of the EOS 5D Mark II, EOS 1D Mark IV and others. They look more like a bagde.

What you shoud be scrutinizing is not only the Mark III badge, but the entire camera... There are more than one new change from 5DII and 7D.

Microphone holes, no pop-up flash, base design, MFn button etc etc.

why should i pay good money to go from 21mp to 22mp. canon must be crazy to think people will do so. maybe new buyer, yes. not me, 800e here i come.

If mega pixels is what you are looking for, you can consider the 41mp Pureview 808.

What Canoners are upgrading for is the improved AF and low light performance of the 5D3.

Did anyone notice tht the dial on the two photos are different? maybe im seeing things but one is with a 60D lock and the other photo is with a normal 5D2 lock.

Which 2 photos were you referring to? Of the 3 photos leaked, only one showed the mode dial lock. If you compare it to the Kenya photo, it's the same - with lock.

Yes the MFn button is to cater for the newer AF system on new bodies like 7D, 1DX and etc.

I haven't.
I just did a quick check on canon website and what i observed was the openings pattern for the microphone in the photo is definitely different. None of the current canon bodies have such a pattern! hmm..

Actually, it follows 7D's design...

Seems highly plausible. It looks like a combination of 7D design and 5D logo.

And the missing popup flash button suggest it is a model without inbuilt flash.

Craig@CR rarely leaks media event information in open domain, unlike Peter@NR.  Why?

I guess to safeguard their own reputation... Professional ethics also. :p

The number of shots seems very low as compared to 1D3/4. A single charge previously could easily hit 2,000 shots.

Where is the invite to that announcement in Singapore on the 2nd?

A few of us in Singapore got the event invite from Canon directly.

The email mentioned:

Just heard a rumor guys, the cr3 spec 5d III/x won't be released in the near future because the pressure from Nikon d800, canon will adjust their spec according to d800 so the 5dIII/x will be delayed!

No link and it's a rumor!

You can't just make a statement like this and not provide more info other than "no link and it's a rumor!"  where did you just hear a rumor.  Is it wild speculation from some post in a forum or from a reasonably reliable blog?

Just received a Canon invitation, a major Canon event on 2nd of March in Shanghai,China.
It's called IXUS Night Show

I believe we haven't seen any invitation regards to the CR3 spec 5d which only two days left to be announced.

 
P.S. Canon announced 5D mark II in Shanghai on 23rd of September in 2008

There's also invitations to a Canon event in Singapore on 2nd March. Sounds like a global announcement on the same day.

By the earlier technologies I was referring to the 1d4 and 5d2

I too compared the 7D with these bodies and at anything over iso 1600 the 7D fell away. Having heard that the 7D was 'top high iso' I was mighty disappointed to find they weren't so I took a hit and sold them.

Indeed. I heard about the 7D and 1D4 being low light champs and I tried them both for a week. None of them beats the 5D2 natively.

Fear not! I applauded, instead of flailing, you. Looks interesting, and totally believable that they might come out around then...

How sad... I think everybody in the world now hopes that it comes out this month. Maybe not 7th Feb, but at least sometime sooner than Sept.
