Actually it looks like the 'lock' button is also showing abrasion on its bottom end.
as if it had been exposed to the same polishing machine..
It can't be chemical.

The 70-200/2.8 IS II is the unbeatable CANON BENCHMARK LENS.
If all wedding photographers go 70-200 it's for plenty of reasons

Oh my God..
What a boring bunch of lenses..
I wouldn't even put them in my bag should they be distributed for free..

Except that many users have been calling for an updated 35 f2 for a long time now- both for full frame and crop. It looks like a great lens. The problem is the price. Don't judge everybody by your own standards.

Well, maybe you're right and maybe I've been a little bit rude. But come on, f/4 !!?
frankly, why would I want to ignore the cheaper 24/105mm f4? just for the sake of half an inch of space saved in my bag?
And yes, I can understand the need for a 'portrait' 35mm lens for cropped bodies.. but come on, why F/2 ? Issuing an f/1.4 at the same price would have been a non boring annoucement.. Maybe..
Or maybe Im only a little bit disappointed because I was REALLY waiting for the 14-24mm f/2.8. This would have been a really exciting annoucement. Definitely

unnecessary face transplant.
Still can hear the 5D screaming..

Lenses / Wide angle lens on a Full Frame - need help
« on: May 14, 2012, 11:15:09 AM »
Just a little survey to help me decide.
I personally prefer the 24mm which would permit more background blur should I need to shoot close (art or fun) portraits.
But I'm seriously considering the 16-35 instead which has a pretty nice aperture too..
What lens would you choose as a gift?

Posted one with the Rebel...
Now here's one with the new Hotness (5d3), and an old lens 28-70mm 2.8L  (circa 1993)

From the moment I knew that NIkon's RAW wasn't true Raw but has some degree of compression, I took my decision.
And never regreted it
Now i'm learning that Nikon doesn't build it's own sensor...

7.  Like everyone else, I read about the "silent" shooting mode.  Then I listened to audio clips of the regular mode versus silent mode and I thought to myself, "It's definitely quieter but not orders-of-magnitude quieter."  Then I started reading all these glowing posts about the silent mode and how amazing it was.  I decided that the audio comparisons I heard must not have done it justice.  Turns out that the audio clips I heard were representative.  There's a difference for sure but it's not like you're going to go unnoticed if you're shooting during a worship service.  You'll just be less noticed.

On the first day, I was deceived by the little difference in the noise between the two modes. Then I felt litterally on my knees when I discover the real silent mode
The mode1, mode 2 silent mode of the main meny may be misleading: the only way to switch to the real silent mode is through the AF drive button or the Q button +

be sure to check on the lcd display,

that the shooting mode is followed by an 'S'

I find the resulting sound not only silent, but also incredibly sexier due to the small increase in its duration
Made me forget the increase in price. :)
