EOS Bodies / Re: Buy 1DX now or wait for an upgrade?

If you need it, or want it and can afford it, grab it. If you always wait for the next best thing, well, you might never buy. I love mine. :)

Could those with problems identify Mac or Windows?

Getting same error on 5D3. Can't update. Removed lens, reformatted card, downloaded again, same errors. stalls at about 66 % or get the thousand percent number.(on a Mac by the way). Removed lens, and battery grip, was able to get out of the try again cycle and all ok with other lenses, so far. Pancake a bust for now.

Update: seeing some comments in other forums that install issue might be related to Mac and Mountain Lion and additional hidden file?

EOS Bodies / Re: Any actual photographers out there?

I'm guessing there are more pro and semi pro 'lurkers' here that actually come by for information. I skip most topics as of no interest. What I do like is presented technical info from users who have experience, and avoid the whining. Of interest to me lately are the arrival dates of the 1DX as I am waiting for one in Alberta. CPS etc but not on the olympic list ;-)  Bt the way picked, up the 40mm pancake yesterday and it is fun. Nice build, certainly more solid than the old cheap 50 1.8, and looks kind of funny on the 5D3 with grip!

;-)  Have a great day everyone and go shoot some pictures.

Still talking about the sensor......

There is much improved in the 5D Mark III to give us the shot we want...
And that's what counts.
Ah yes, the sensor.. Kind of important, don't you think?

While the 5D3 might be a great upgrade for people coming from the 7D, XXD, or the rebel line, it is a very underwhelming and disappointing upgrade for the 5D2 crowd.

Not everyone wants to pay 3500 bucks for fixed AF, ratebutton and more FPS.

Hmmm. Guess you should try one. Coming from the 7D and 5D2, my 5D3 I wouldn't trade for either.  Sensor or not, the focusing system wins it for me and I guess the DiG!C 5+ Image Processor is what makes it worthwhile, among a few other items such as feel, ergonomics, programmability ...  yes, it works well for me. Now if the damn 1D-X would just arrive! ;-)

EOS Bodies / Re: 5d Mark iii file size?
« on: April 17, 2012, 03:54:25 PM »
My jpegs run around 5 to 11 mb on 5760 X 3840.  Noticeable that a more detailed photo is larger mb. :-)

EOS Bodies / Re: The Light Leak Issue

Hmmm only affects  my 5D3 without a lens and thumb instead of cover too. No issue with lens on or rubber cover on eyepiece .... LOL"

:D If you don't get drawn in there can be some entertainment here. For the record, I ordered the 5D3 and the 1D-X, expecting the 5D3 on Thursday, and the 1D-X the first week of May, according to my local Photo Source store who place the orders. I'm taking pictures, not arguing ...  ;)
