Andy, great job, I like the splashed water shots the best.

This was the only meet with the steeplechase, couldn't resist getting photos of people jumping into freezing water on a cold day!

As someone using a Tamron bag their parents bought before they were even born and a cheap bag that came free with my first camera, I REALLY hope I win this!

#4 is of the steeple in the steeplechase, just thought it was a cool picture of it in the reflection of the water.  Here are some other shots I got.

I call this one crab man!

Didn't have enough practices to run in our teams first meet so I brought my camera, 5d mkii and 200mm F/2.8 II.  Never been much into sports photography but everyone wanted some photographs of themselves in action.  Here are my favorites out of the some 400 shots I took today.

Speaking of Samyang, just found their 14mm is on sale for $309 with lightroom 5 and some other useless stuff.  Anyone want to convince me not to get this and upgrade to lr5?

That only works out to a 66mm f1.3.

But great shot, especially for a first try at the technique.

Thank you, how do you find out want it is equivalent to?  Also should I try doing this with my 50 1.8 for a more pronounced effect?

Try setting the ten second timer as well as using the remote cable release.  When ever I use longer lenses this makes a huge difference.

Portrait / Brenizer Method First Try
« on: March 01, 2014, 08:21:15 PM »
Thought I would try today the brenizer method aka bokeh panorama.  Asked my friend to help me with it, by modeling.  The photo itself isn't really anything special but I know I'll need this technique down the line for clients looking for extremely large portrait prints.  24 shots on a Canon 5D MKii with 200mm F/2.8 L II at F/4, ISO 400, 1/200th.

you can see some of the mistakes I make with the spot heal tool in Lightroom, should have used the heal brush in Photoshop and taken more photos further way from my subject.

Andy_Hodapp,

It must be exciting to have the opportunity.  I rarely see an eagle and then only golden.  Bet you were wishing you had a longer lens or could get closer!

Jack

Right now in the process of choosing a longer lens.  Tamron 150-600mm?  I did try and get closer but he flew away, but not before I got a shot of him flying!!!!
