Ha. Zeiss should have invented this for Canon years ago so they can sell these to people to whom they sell their Rolls Royce manual fast primes.

anybody order there 7D Mark 2 kits yet and if so
when are u scheduled for your deliveries???

or do some of u rather go too any big camera stores and get them in hand rather then rely on FedEX Or UPS
slow shipping even with 1 day shipping options?

i ordered mine from a store in NJ called BEACH CAMERA on route 22 via amazon they had me promised me a oct 16th delivery via amazon's listing now it they telling me via Beach Camera its coming NOV 1-5th ugh i'm very disappointed i was hoping too get 1 earlier then others lol
but here the question i have for all of you SHOULD I WAIT FOR NOV 1-5th for my preorder or cancel my order go too B&H nyc store NOVEMBER 28th & trade in my gear and saving $$$ getting the 7D Mark 2 cheaper

basically should i wait for Beach Camera or go too B&H for better service and save $$$

If you live outside New York, order online and they ship to you, there is no sales tax. Tax on an $1,800 camera would cost you over a hundred bucks.

Apples and oranges.
I went FF to 6d to get better low light/high ISO image quality. You can't get that in any crop.
I alsoo plan to get a crop sports body like 70d or 7d2 so I can use 2 cameras at once at my kids' games.  I will say the 6D actually does a good job on the soccer shots. No complaints, actually!

I really didn't give them much thought.  I assumed they would be like Sigma's lenses, or like Kenko T/C's and they would work on everything.  But these are almost as expensive as Canon teleconverters, and they seem aimed at Sigma lenses.

Maybe Sigma is shifting into a new gear and considers itself less 3rd party alternative to OEM systems, and more of an OEM company.

Animal Kingdom / Re: Show your Bird Portraits

When I read "bird portraits" I think of people portraiture.  It would be hilarious to see some of the standard people portrait setups applied to birds.  High key.  Low key serious shots.  Looking out a gauzy window.  Newborn shots.  Just no bird boudoir shots.

I'll wait for the 16-35 f/2.8 III.

Evidently it may cost $6,000.00 because it is twice as bright.

THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS???

Only 3 lenses?  And I guess you will definitely want the Sigma dock for updates?

EOS Bodies / Re: Multilayer Sensors are Coming From Canon [CR2]

Neuro and I both wrote on that article mentioned...

Judging by the numerous grammatical errors in those Adweek comments, I am pretty sure it's not the same Neuro in CR forum. ;D

No, certainly not me.  Likely one of the banned ex-CR trolls attempting a lame and pathetic sort of payback.

Haha.  The writing (and spelling) was like 2nd grade skill level. They should have used a copy of Neuro's avatar, but with a little cross section of a peanut where the brain would go.

Does multi layer mean foveon like or does it mean something else? Seems there are other possibilities with additional filters.

I am a foveon user and can say for some applications it is exceptional and for others terrible. It would be fantastic to see another company push this type of technology beyond its current state. I hope Canon is this company. Maybe Canon does not need to make this type of sensor to be good at everything, just good at specific things. Look at Sony A7r and A7s. Both sell well, yet both are good at different tasks.

Really looking forward to seeing companies take image quality more seriously, by this I mean, eliminating IQ destroying Interpolation and bayer colour filters.

I dunno.
"Truer colors" does not blow my hair back, nor does less chromatic aberration (but with monochrome aberrations still there, thus still needing a Bayer filter as stated above??).

And the negatives seem problematic.  Lessened frame rate and ginormous files?

And better IQ at higher ISO a is the most important thing for me, but as stated above, Foveon may actually be WORSE rather than better?

Post Processing / Re: How to start using Photoshop
« on: October 06, 2014, 06:53:53 PM »
Hi everyone,

Everything is in the title. I am using lightroom since a few years, but I feel like I could use Photoshop from time to time.
I have never used it before but I am keen to learn. How would you start? What should be learned first? Do you advice any book, tutorial, website?

Any advice is welcome!

Thanks

Same boat as you. I am very fluent in Lightroom, but I can't force myself to use Photoshop Elements.  I bought and completely ignored Elements 10.  I bought Elements 12 2 months ago and again, despite the best intentions, I have not sucked it up and gotten into it.

EOS Bodies / Re: Upgrade Path Advice...

You seem to know the answer already. You don't shoot sports terribly seriously and you say your AF is fine for what you do.  A 6d will give you a modern full frame sensor, which will be a big improvement in low light/high ISO.  With a 6d, you will definitely experience a benefit in the portraits, family shots, etc. you list as primary interests.

If you felt like stretching the budget to about $2,600 U.S., you could get a 5d3 and have the FF and the AF in one package.

One witness, a young bald kid in a yellow shirt, claims that despite previous instances of trickery, in which the ball was pulled away, he plans to run full speed at it again for his 3,835th attempt, oblivious to the laughter of others.
