I think the pattern is from the printing process used to make the card. It looks like the same printing pattern you can see in magazines. Moire could cause the pattern in your image to be courser than the one on the card, but I think the pattern in your image is what the card actually looks like.

Lenses / Re: Your Most Used Lens!

I have a 60D, so it's my Sigma 30mm when I'm shooting stills and my Samyang 14mm when shooting video.

When I get a 5D3 (hopefully at the end of the year) I think it'll be a Canon 50mm f/1.2L.

Personally I wouldn't want to use anything below the xxd line - at the moment 60d - because it has a top lcd screen and, even more important, the back dial for exposure compensation et cetera. Once you get a bit more advanced, you won't want to miss these because you can  get to the right setting much quicker. You can read about the other differences to the xxxd line elsewhere, ask if you want to know if a specific feature is important.

I second this! The 60D has the things you need over the 600D to make using your camera a significantly more enjoyable experience. The better grip, rear control dial, top LCD and excellent battery life will make a big difference. I have the 60D and can thoroughly recommend it if you want a Canon APS-C DSLR.

Lenses / Re: APS-H lenses?

I think the 16-35mm f/2.8L II lens would fall into this category. Looking at the sharpness test at DPReview, it's great to the corners of an APS-H sensor but falls off at the full frame corners.

I remember reading on LensTip that this lens was aimed at photojournalists in combination with the APS-H 1D Mark III that came out at the same time.

In regard to DigitalRev, I am pretty sure that anything over $1000, GST and Duty still apply.  The question is whether the item gets checked at customs?

They state that they will pay any customs charges.

Their warranty page states that they will send a courier to pick it up if you want to return it to them, but yes, they don't explicitly state who would pay for it.

I would pay an extra $200-300 to get it here in AUS, but after that I would go straight to DigitalRev, B&H or Adorama.

DigitalRev will handle all import hassle for you and their prices are still pretty good! They have the 5D Mark III up for AU$ 3,590.00(http://www.digitalrev.com/product/canon-eos-5d-mark-iii/MTAwMDQwNQ_A_A), and they have free shipping.

They say offer a local warranty by paying for any repairs that would be covered by warranty or you can send it back to them: http://www.digitalrev.com/help/worldwide-local-warranty/NDMzNTc5MQ_A_A.

I've bought from them before and I do recommend them to friends. Their shipping is also very fast. I recently ordered my 100mm f/2.8L IS Macro on Friday the 24th of Feb and I recieved it on Monday the 27th.

EOS Bodies / Re: 5D3 AA Filter?

It apparently has a thinner AA filter. I assume this would improve performance at the corners in some way.

It's simple; if you don't want to pay the price, don't buy it. Why complain about it?

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: No Focusing Screens for 5D MIII?

Does Canon offer to change the focussing screen in the 7D for a price? Do you they might offer this service for the 5D Mark III?
