While I have been extremely reluctant to use anything other than Canon glass having had a few bad experiences when I tried others, I broke down and bought the Sigma 35 and it is AWESOME!!

Used them for years in my 7D without issue.

Noiseware just released a new version that is getting some positive response.  I have downloaded but have not tired it yet - hoping to do so this weekend.

Agree 100% with Neuro's assessment.  In my view the only regret you will have is not having proper support and watching the big glass hit the ground.  I have used the Wimberley WH-200 and it is very nice.  I personally have the same RRS setup as Neuro describes, with the only difference being that I have the TVC-33S (the S stands for "short") which I prefer for travel convenience.

I use a 1dx but think the 5dIII has the same live view capability.  If you view in live view, you can zoom the view and get extremely sharp focus.  Let me know if this works.

I never used the Live View until I started shooting with TS-E lens.  It allows for fast, easy and effective metering (the tilt shift lens do not allow for the camera's standard metering).

You should check out www.Viewbug.com.  It has various memberships including a free option.  They have theme-based contests that you can enter (!20 at any given time).   And you get a fair amount of feedback.

Typical setup has been 7D with 70-200 MkII sometime with 2x ext, sometimes 300mm 2.8 MkII.  Have not had a chance to try out the 1Dx due to the lockout.  :-[

Here are two examples of different processing techniques.  The iceberg was a 3 shot bracket, processed with Nik HDR Efex Pro 2, careful to keep a natural look.  The church shot was a single shot HDR processed with Photomatix Pro, processed for dramatic effect.

Software & Accessories / Re: Variable ND question

K-Amp,  I did a lot of research on this online after getting the "X" effect with several of the high-end variable filters on a my 1Dx.  I had not previously experienced the problem on my 7D for some reason, but after getting the 1Dx have checked it on the 5D MkII and MkIII and get a similar problem.  My conclusion was it was better to go with the std ND filters.

My trust and excitement were both offered to soon.  Much to my dismay, it has not arrived yet.  I have spoken to my contact yesterday and again today who said it will be delivered "shortly. Please wait."   Not a lot of options other than waiting STILL!  :(   Will post when it arrives.
