I have purchased both lens and body and the experience has been excellent! :)

Thanks for your input!

Discovered to day that my new Tamron tele-converter does not work with my new 7D Mark II. It works fine on both my old 7D and on the 6D. I use it with the 70-300mm L F4-5.6 lens. Hope that a future firmware update allows me to use it. It totally locks up the new Mark II and the only way to unlock it is to pull the battery out of the camera.

EOS Bodies / Re: EOS 7D Mark II Shipping October 30, 2014

Anyone get any word from Amazon today? I spoke to one of their reps and they were kinda vague saying they weren't able to fulfill all preorders but didn't give any estimates on when they might get more.
I got an email today advising Nov. 3rd but I have been bugging them for an answer. They have been very vague in their correspondence.

Amazon has promised delivery on or about Nov. 3rd. Slower than I would have liked;but very anxious to get this new camera.

I just reviewed the field report and I felt that they provided real time feedback on the capability of this new exciting camera. Scott and his team did a fantastic job without getting into the detailed technical specifications. The proof is in the pictures.  Well Done!

Yes, I have been waiting for years for the upgrade. I have a 7D now and it has served me very well in many locations on my travels! With the AF I believe it will be excellent and with the new wide angles along with the potential for a new 400mm my wishes will be complete.

I have to agree with AvTvM, It all talk an no significant products. Blah, Blah Blah! And people have the nerve to criticize Apple! Canon is much worse on bringing new products to market.

Great pictures above on this post of the hawk. Attached are photo's taken of an adult with D7and Sigma 70-200 mm 2.8 DGHSM with a 1.4X multiplier. The branch that the hawk has to be 3-4 inches in diameter so this is a pretty good size bird. Hope you enjoy. Carmine

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Power Failure on 7D

Help! Wonder if any other forum members have had the camera fail to power on. I put in a new battery but it failed to power up as well. Had bought a Mack extended warranty and the camera failed just about a week before the end of the warranty but I was out of country and could not get the camera to them. They refused to honor the warranty! Buyers beware! I will be sending into Canon to get an assessment. Up to this time I have had absolutely no problem with this camera. I have been waiting for the new 7DII but now may move to a FF. :-[

Well I would definitely not replace my 7D with a 70D! Just came back from taking a solid look at the new 70 D. The new electronics are impressive but the camera itself comes across in your hands as a piece of light, fragile plastic with an inferior grip,  small feel and overall just not anything close to the higher class 7D. The format for the buttons etc. seems compromised due to the smaller size of the camera. When will Canon realize that many D7 users are frustrated that they have not provided an equivalent update for the 7D. It would be just great if they put out the new camera with a full frame sensor that is below the price point of the 5DIII. Wondering if I should just jump to NIkon! Difficult to wait another year to only be let down again! :(

Software & Accessories / Re: iPhoto or Aperture´╝č

I am just an amateur but have used Light Room, iPhoto and Aperture.  I primarily use Apertue as I find it to  be more user friendly and it links very well as I am a iMac user. Light Room is a great piece of software and it is very robust and powerful from the perspective of being able to organize your photos. Aperture for me allows me to configure photo journals in a very transparent manner. Clearly Lightroom is more orientated to the professional user.

I am a 7D owner and love the camera, but feel a bit let down by the potential projections for the 7DII. This will probably lead me to make the commitment to a FF camera albeit it a significant cost jump for a serious amateur. I look forward to the developing story in the future.
