Site Information / is there a news feed without the advertising?
« on: November 30, 2013, 02:42:56 AM »
In the early days it was all about rumors, new releases and firmware updates.

Today i have the feeling its all about prices of canon gear (lenses, bodys, memorycards etc.). I am not only talking about that BlackFriday stuff (which i of course dont care at all too). Its going on for a while now.

I really dont care for how much this stuff sells where you live, i probably wouldnt even care if i lived on the same continent.

So is there a rss feed version without those advertisements?

I hope it will finally allow to apply the lens correction settings to all photos at once ..if you do it now all photos get corrected with the distance settings of the first photo.

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS 5D Mark III Blinking Red AF Point Information
« on: November 15, 2012, 01:27:48 PM »
You are missing the point.  go back and reread the original article.  It messes up the metering.  BTW, metering is done when you press the shutter button.
I'd much rather have a properly metered image than the red AF point if I had to make a choice.

I'm not and the shutter button isnt my AF start button. It would be easy to pause the light metering for this one short location blink of the AF point.

At any rate, that would only work for the first shot - you still wouldn't know where the AF points would move for the 2nd, 3rd, ... shot. Which is the actual issue, because the red-flare-on-focus *is* available in One Shot mode (and we all set the DOF button to toggle between One Shot and AI Servo. Right? Right?). So don't oversimplify either ;)

I dont care, i just dont want it to be a step backwards from the 5D II, i would be happy with the same funcionality if more cant be done. But less is just not an option.

WTF, then just give us a short AF blink when the AF-On button is pushed. Just like it was with the MarkII. At least it would be on the same level then. No reason to make this more complicated as it is.

Anything new about when we will be getting our firmware update?

For me personally the function like the 5D2 would be enough. I dont need it on all the time..especially if it cant be done without the light affecting measurements. Just have it the way it was before and i'm happy.

All that matters is the "highlight tone priority" because this pushes the shadows while recording your image and cant be undone in RAW.

11
You probably did but id better ask to be sure. Did you disable the "highlight tone priority", this improves noise in the dark areas.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: 5D2 vs 5D3 low light AF

Would it make sense to let it only use the crosstype sensors? Or should i have them both actived?

13
It does not affect metering it affects the sensor.

Most of the time you take your photos with the rubber cover on the connectors anyway. But if you have a remote plugged it it can be trouble.

Sorry, i dont own it anymore.
