With the way B&H holds work on debit cards etc.  I was impatient, since basically I had paid for the lens, and didn't have access to its use…. so I was quite happy on "opening day" of US arrival to find one at my local dealer (3 weeks ago)…. Sure others here were in the same boat… and for everybody else - there has been so much anticipation to the introduction of this lens, that everybody wants to do their own testing of it….

The shots of the boy running were taken using AI Servo, focus point was his tummy, using silent multi shot.

BTW here are some shots from yesterday, of my son and his mother running towards me… Shot at f1.4 using a 6D, center focus point.

Upgraded from the original Simga 50 to the Art 50…. Have a much higher hit percentage on the autofocus, and the image is just very sweet…  I would recommend upgrading (the size isn't that much more in reality, unless it just won't fit in your camera bag).

Check locally for an allocation shipment… as far as the lens…. I really like it so far.

Couple more shots with the Art 50 today… f1.4, ISO 100, 6D.

No sharpening, just blemish removal and smoothing of skin.

Focal point was the left eye.

Spent a few minutes in the USB cradle, and then shot the following… Going to zero out the setting tonight, and run it against FoCal..

Anyway, shot at f1.4, 30 minutes before sundown. Only adjustment to the shot were to tweak the exposure.

Hope to get more meaningful shots once it is all lined out.

Check with your local dealer before waiting.. Seems that there are a lot of single unit allocations out there. Myself and one other person on the board have cut the line by going that route.

Well…. I ended up canceling my order……………….. Because I called a local dealer (Pitman Photo in Miami), and they had received 1 on allocation.. Rushed down to pick up during lunch, and I now have what is probably one of the first Art 50s in So. Florida.  Love the build quality, and the focusing is reasonably quick…. Stopped on the way back to work and took some pot shots - will post a little later when I get a chance…. For now here she is mated to my 6D.

Congrats Shane… My order from the 18th still shows as "On Order" but at least we know that they are receiving stock of the lenses, and the process has begun.

As of today, here is B&H's update - "I am sorry but at this time the manufacturer has not given us a delivery date for this lens " that they sent me in response to an online query about the status of this lens.

Lenses / Sigma ART 50 Shipments - Have you received your confirmation
« on: April 29, 2014, 01:04:38 AM »
Curious about US based purchasers…. Once you receive your shipment confirmation, let the rest of use know from whom, and when you placed your original order…

In my case I ordered on 4/18 from B&H… Haven't heard anything yet.

Awesome to see it on the streets… Anybody stateside heard of B&H shipping yet ? I placed my order on the 18th, so I know I am not at the top of the list, but am hoping to still get it in the first wave…. Any idea how many B&H has coming in?

Guess I am safe.
