Canon General / Re: Irritating photography advice

That somehow when the 7D2 comes out my 7D will magically start taking horrible photos... and all camera advice along those lines.

Zenfolio has some good features at different price points. It can be fully customized if one is familiar with that. One of the features that kept me with them was an integrated blog.

So far it seems the most divisive topics in photography are... (on this site)

1. Dynamic Range
2. DR Trolls
3. Annnddd... Ken Rockwell

 Did I miss something? ;)

Seriously though, the KR debate only fuels traffic to his site, for better or worse. It's a free* internet, people can post whatever, whenever. Read or don't, arguing the merits only puts coins in the coffers of KR in the long run.

*Only if you don't count the cost of brain cells...

Third Party Manufacturers / Re: Experiences Switching From Nikon

Here is an interesting article from the publishers of Oopoomoo.com (Darwin Wiggett and Samantha Chrysanthou) discussing this very topic. One is a Canon shooter, the other a Nikon shooter. It is a little dated equipment wise, but interesting none the less.

Ken Rockwell is entertaining, and to be taken with a grain of salt and heavy filter. There are some good ideas and themes, but mostly its the same statements repeated. You have to admit he is good at what he does, but as with all things internet, take it or leave it.  It's not any different than any other outlet of information, whether it be NPR, FOX, or Reddit/Pintrest/Buzzfeed, viewer discretion is advised.

I use it regularly, especially when I need a boot of creativity. It is a challenge that has produced some of my most unique and interesting compositions.

Zenfolio is good at the $120 level. They say "unlimited" for storage space. There are various plug-ins available, TIFF and JPEG supported along with video. I don't think it is designed for mass cloud backup though, more of a website hosting site.

Hello,

First post but long time reader.

My 70-200 non IS makes a whirring sound when focusing, and sometimes a slight thud as it moves back and forth. Never had any issue for the last 4 years. I had 2 shops look at it and said it was normal on mine.

Cheers
