Some of the candids look like the people got a little disturbed by your photography.
Because I try to avoid this, I am not so into street photography. But I like it.

Petach,  Did you have any concerns about this when shooting?

thanks all for the positives. Appreciated.

The old guy in the bar was a willing subject.  He is 94 and thought nobody would consider him an interesting subject.  He was pleased to sit for me.  The guy with the pipe is from Bristol.  He was also a willing subject.  The others had no idea I was photographing them except for the dark haired lady  who suspected it.  She had her head down looking at her phone.   She came out of the subway into full sunlight I was aiming in her direction.  She got within a couple of feet and suddenly looked up at me when....presumably....she saw my feet refusing to budge.  I activated my silent shutter but kept the camera to my eye.  I didn't look back. She was in the can...job done....move on.

Cheers

Currently in Rome for a week with Mrs Petach and some friends.  We have a lovely apartment, close to shops and bars/restaurants about 1k from the Cathedral of Rome (St John/StGiovanni)

Couldn’t decide which camera to take….but BA’s generous 21 kilo hand baggage allowance decided for me.  They all came!

The 6d with 85mm L f/1.2 & 70-300L, The GXR with 21mm Zeiss and a Panny FZ200 Bridge.

The Panny has done really well, especially for street work and scenics.  I am pleased with it and it is very versatile at 24mm-600mm equivalent zoom AND f/2.8 all the way through. In fact, I have enough confidence in it to make it the only one to take if room is tight.

A couple of 6d 70/300L shots here

Manhattanhenge Sunset

Good and funny/sad!
Your photo is good and documentary, Strykapose! The sad part is that many of those people lining up to shoot the sunset haven't seen a real sunset at a horizon without being surrounded by skyscrapers, nor without having a phone in front of them.
The funny part is that I bet a whole lot of them are using the flash... :)

Thank you DominoDude...So true. NYC is surrounded by skyscrapers with many more going up at any moment. It'll probably get to a point where the city will live in shadows...with the only light coming from tourist's camera flashes.

Looking at the other side of the coin.....I find this a refreshing sunset and it sets it apart from a lot of other "sunsets schmunsets" you see in the country or at the beach. The reflections from glass, steel and alloys, silhouettes of living and static objects, light, shadow, behaviour....all add to the mix.  So, not sure it is sad really....just the same drink from a different bottle.   The fact that is is unexpected makes it all the more enjoyable for me.  Living in (or close to....) London, I see some fantastic sunsets over the city which would not look half as good if I had seen it from the countryside or beach.  Although "good" is obviously to personal taste/preference for city/country living.

One thing I do hate though is when someone holds a bloody iPad up in front of your face obstructing your view.  There ought to be a switch that cuts off power as soon as it is raised above shoulder height.

Landscape / Wood Norton Hotel
« on: September 29, 2014, 07:52:34 PM »
Dunno where this fits so I chose Landscape.

The Wood Norton Hotel in the Cotswolds.  Took these early morning.  The owner was so pleased he purchased a number of them for a mutually satisfactory figure which included a further night +B&B +dinner+wine

The rays of light come from BBC security lamps shining through trees at the rear.
