Im suspecting a pretty substantial price increase from version 1 as well....

The sharpness in the corners at f8 and f11 compared to my 2.8 version is enough for me to want to buy this, which I did. However, still waiting for my pre-order to come through.

Seems as if overnight almost half our stores now have it listed as in stock!

Here's hoping my preorder (from that same shop) is available for collection then.

It's available here.

I was in one of their stores on Monday and saw it on display.

Really? I was talking with a friend of mine who works in the Brisbane store, and they are still expecting it in July. I've put my pre-order in with them.

EDIT : Canon have just updated their website today to say that its in stock (from them direct).

Its not for sale - its still pre-order only, just like it is in the USA. Some of our major stores here (including the biggest one in Brisbane) still have no info at all about it. Only recently over the last few days has a more realistic price been placed on this lens.

There currently is nowhere that I am aware of that you can actually get hold of this lens in Australia. I've pre-ordered, and have been told mid july.

Ill just continue to believe nothing until I see a proper announcement. I do hope that a 100-400 v2 comes at the same time.

It's already on sale in Australia.
Has been for a 2 weeks or so.

Its on both part of the websites, and now in the e-store, but you still cant purchase it as far as I know. None of the stores here have it yet, and when I asked canon direct, they still said "June, but not available yet"

I am quite confident that when this new camera does come to the table, i will definitely want it, but definitely wont need it. As I mentioned previously, id love a few extra mp, but the expanded DR and shadow detail like on the 800 is what i'd really like.

Having said that though, I have seen what people like Ryan Dyar, Sean Bagshaw, Chip Phillips etc can do with the gear that I own, and until I can do something like that, I dont think I deserve an upgrade!

I'd be suprised if a 16-35 2.8 v3 will come at all. As much as i'd love one to, I suspect the next UWA we will see will be something similar to Nikons 14-24 with a fairly non-filterable bulbous element.

I will likely be selling my v2 in favour of the new f4. I dont need the IS at all, but really want the sharper corners. I hardly ever shoot at 2.8, aside from when I do some astro type stuff, but I can likely bump up the iso an extra stop to cover that.

I have to confess as a landscape shooter I wouldn't mind a few extra mp, purely so when I crop down into a panorama format, I still have a decent mp count to work with. Currently I stitch a lot, but some scenes (seascapes in particular) this can be difficult. I have printed 30" prints off my old nikon d70 back in the day which worked well enough - but I guess the less upscaling you have to do the better.

I do love my 5dmk3 though, but still often shoot my 1ds3 as I feel at iso 100 the files can be pushed a little more than the 5d in the shadows.

Sounds like we will get something pretty similar to Nikons current lineup then. My guess will be the two new lenses, and the 16-35 II prob sticking around for the more event/PJ stuff (where the corners probably dont matter as much).

Im more interested in the "higher mp prosumer body"

Using local au prices, i'd probably go for

Canon 5d3 - $3385
Canon 70-200 2.8 II - $2425
Canon 17-40 - $789
Canon 24-70 II - $2279
Yongnuo 560III flash - $100
Fstop Loka bag - $450 approx
Memory Cards, spare battery - $200 approx

Should leave about $370 to spend on filters etc.

I have owned the 45mm TS previously, and sold it to actually get the 24 V2, which I love. But I do miss the 45.

All I can think of with this post is that the lens will come with an L price tag as well, and wondering if I should go pick up a current 45mm while I can. They are priced pretty well atm, and I found my previous one to be quite sharp.
