I think that you will be fine with either for both cities and landscapes. I would probably choose the 24-105, just from the point of having a bit more focal length to play with.

How about a good pocket P&S also? Not much weight and could extend your focal range. The 50X Canon PS SX50 HS gives good IQ and tremendous super telephoto range.

Post some photos when you get back.

I have a Sony RX100 which I'll let one of my daughter use. Will definitely take lots of photo and post some here. Can't wait for the trip to begin.

I am planning for a trip to visit cities in France and Italy in a couple of months. Would love to bring all the lens I have, but most likely will be one. I am narrowing it down to EF 24-70 v1 or EF 24-105. Will accompany 5D3 and getting XA20 when release in June. Weigh will be a factor, that's why I only want to carry one lens.

Thought or suggestion is greatly appreciated.

In my opinion, it really depends on how you shoot. Since you're indoors, that one stop difference doesn't seem worth the cost compared to the alternative options. What are you planning on shooting indoors?

For indoor, mainly churches and museums.

Lenses / How good is 16-35 f/2.8 over 17-40 f/4?

I've been using the 17-40 for about a year now, mainly landscape, and been quite happy with the result. I'll be traveling to Europe this Summer and would like to continue to use the 17-40, but for indoor situation, would the 16-35 be worth twice the price as the 17-40? Should I make the upgrade? Thanks for your help.

As with many of you, I was a bit skeptical about the product being from China and all. But you know what, I am very surprise and happy with the 568EX.

Purchased directly from Yongnuostore.com. Took about 2 weeks to get here. Tried and test it on my dear 20D for several days. All went well, then I had it on my 1D4 and 5D3. Works as expected thus far.

Packing for a trip to Vegas and Grand Canyon. Just wondering if it's worth taking along the 70-200. Trying to keep down the weight. Any thought?

Taking: 5D3, 17-40 f/4, and 24-70 f/2.8.

I picked up the RX100 yesterday and finally had a chance to play with it. Here are my impressions:

IQ is great. Handles low light quite well. My gripe, not necessary Sony's fault, is my difficulty of holding the camera. It's a bit heavy for its size, since it is very well constructed. I have to remind myself from time to time to hold on to the camera tighter and not to drop it. It is a bit slippery since there is only metal facing in the front.  Since I have difficulty holding on to the camera, it was even more difficult trying to push the little buttons in the back in trying to change the settings and take the pictures manually. So it was best for me to just keep the settings on full auto.

It's a good little camera. But I think I'll either return it or give it to my daughter.

I'll be heading out to a local Best Buy and pick up the RX100 tomorrow. Will report back to see if it's worth the steep price, comparing to the S100.

I have the same exact thing, except it's in the upper left. Drives me crazy. Tried to use the rocket blower, but no luck. I am thinking of sending it in to the Canon Service Center, but not sure if it's worth a couple of hundred dollars getting it done.

Does anyone know if the battery from the 1D IV will work on the 1D X?
