If you do it yourself use micro fiber, softest you can find. Cotton has a tun of fiber and can scratch stuff. I would also try and find canned air without an added bitterant. I have noticed, that will leave a film/cloud behind. Good luck

Hey Steve263, sorry for the delay. Been a while since I logged on. They come with spray, just a water/soap mix and a squeegee. I picked up a few micro fiber rags as well. They are cheaper there than anywhere. Costco used to sell big yellow ones, but I haven't seen them for a while.

$180 isn't too bad. Check ebay for used. You may find it even cheaper

The only protector I would even consider using would be the GGS glass ones. The plastic ones are terrible.

I don't plan on using any with my 5D3 though.

XO ones aren't plastic, they are polyurethane, like what the military uses.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: Solar eclipse questions...???

Here is a compilation of eclipse photos I took:

In Albuquerque it was really interesting because the eclipse was still happening during sunset.  Because of that, the sun set in a shark fin shape.  We were about a mile away from the center path of the annular eclipse, so we were able to get the moon centered nicely in the sun.  There was cloud cover earlier in the day but it all went away for the eclipse... we couldn't have asked for better viewing conditions.  For these photos I used a Canon Rebel T2i with a 70-200mm f/2.8L II with a 2X extender @ 400mm and two stacked neutral density filters with a combined optical density of 3.9.

Nice! Facebook timeline photo haha? I wish it wasn't cloudy where we were

Was anyone able to get some good shots of it? We had clouds in our area.

I have tried the acrylic ones before, dust ends up getting pushed up under them and your screen ends up scratched anyway. They wet ones are made to cling to airplanes, they are significantly stronger.

Does anyone know if Canon will be making an eyepiece extender for the 5D MK3, or if there are any 3rd party ones available right now?

Yes, I found a few ones on Amazon.

How long did shipping take?

Takes about a day or two in the US. As for globally, I guess however fast USPS or FedEx ships and what you pay for. There are like 10 options
