Bought a 17-40mm last year, arrived very quickly and no problems. Ordered a 100mm f2 this christmas, very quick delivery considering the holidays and again well wrapped and no problems. Brilliant service, great rates and very friendly. They've also started including in the box a Digitalrev warranty which covers any faults that you have to pay canon to fix (considering canon warranty doesnt apply in UK with HK products)

Thanks all.

Must admit its now a case of 100mm f2 usm or 70-200mm f4l usm. 100mm would actually fit in my Billingham small, whilst I don't think the zoom will. Though a little concerned if the 100 is zoomed in enough for some nice tele landscapes.

Interesting. Thanks so much guys. Its a really tough choice. I'm planning to be in Hong Kong in August so I think the 100mm f2 might be useful as its pretty subtle (though still using a whopping great big 5d)

Yes I understand these lens are, in a number of ways, very different but just wandering what people's opinion of each is.

My reasons -

100mm f2 USM - great aperture + sharp, relatively inexpensive (could therefore afford a flashgun also) + is small + nice focal length - but not L/is fixed focal length which might not be long enough on full frame.

70-200mm f4l - not great aperture but usable - great zoom range which is useful as I shoot landscapes + good build. - but is quite large comparatively speaking, and is not subtle.

135mm f2l - amazing sharpness + aperture -is subtle for focal length - but v expensive & fixed focal length.

I mainly shoot landscapes and I need a tele to get some nice compressed shots. Hoping to do some more portrait.

This will mean the 70d will be around £1500 in UK I think, i was assuming it would be slightly more expensive than the original 60d price. I'm really quite disgusted with canon. While Nikon seem to be reducing/keeping their prices relatively low, canon have had a massive price hike. I wouldnt buy it anyway but 650d is £800 with lens, thats far too expensive for a beginner SLR. Furthermore, the 40mm pancake ($199) in USA is £229 in UK (about $353). I really don't understand Canon's mindset

Why? Does canon really need to replace these lenses? they are not that old.

The 35mmL was introduced in 1998.  Its not exactly a new lens,

Yeah, i was mainly referring to the 85L. Still 1998 is newer than 1990 when they introduced the normal 35mm. I'm really starting to think Nikon is looking after its lower level customers far better than canon is. Even the new 24mm and 28mm are around £700. They need to produce a similar priced 35mm as nikon's DX one thats around £185.

Why? Does canon really need to replace these lenses? they are not that old. Canon really need to get their act together and update the 35mm f2 which is a terrible lens. Seeing nikon's 35mm dx 1.8 makes me wonder why canon haven't done the same
