Canon General / Re: Why did you choose Canon?

canon stuff is usually quite a lot cheaper and easier to acquire, both new(more promotions) and used(more buyers/sellers).

Never tried mk1, but in those samples above the bokeh looks way crappy compared to the mk2, which is a big reason for buying it.

maybe the quality of the bokeh is caused by the busy backgrounds, the 1 and 2 actually don't have that big of a difference in image quality/bokeh.

main upgrades are af speed, and flare control, up to the buyer to decide if it's worth the extra money.

Shot at 1.2

I got the version 1, very sharp, but quite a bit of color fringing at 1.2 and flares more. I think it's worth it if you can get it at half the price.

Lenses / Re: Canon 100mm f2.8 L is owners, dust circle inside lens?
« on: May 02, 2012, 03:52:39 PM »
mine doesn't really have dust, it's more like a circle of gray stain or glue on the outer edge inside the lens itself, it doesn't show looking from the rear element, only when looking from the front with a light and with aperture blade wide open.

have to look carefully, no one else has this??

Lenses / Canon 100mm f2.8 L is owners, dust circle inside lens?
« on: May 02, 2012, 01:27:53 AM »
Hi all, I just got a 100L and was looking down the front of the lens through to the rear under a light and noticed what seems to be a weird circle of stain or dust on the inside of the lens(around the edge and 2/3s near back element), was wondering if anyone with the same lens has the same thing.

This lens is supposed to be weather sealed and the stain is not on the back element, so was wondering what it was. Apart from this strange circle, everything functions great, maybe it's a reflection off something. thanks

60d, not sure if old enough, but cheaper than 5d iii :-)

Great shots. The city scape is very nicely done.

thanks :-) , these newer crop cameras t3i/60d/7d are great alternatives with 90% the image quality for less than half the price.
