I owned the IS one back in 2011 then  I sold it. In 2013 I bought the non-IS. In 2014 I bought again the IS one only because of IS and I sold the non-IS. The IQ is almost the same. The bokeh of IS version is better. For me the IS one definitely worth the 400 !

I checked my mark 3 and I noticed the same issue, focus points shifted up and left. Not that much as infrared about half on both direction.  :(
The spyder's little square was centered ...

The f/4 IS lens is wonderful, and plenty good wide open.  You will not have a need for f/2.8, so why carry that monster around?
Agreed. I own both and my option is f4IS.

35mm is my all around focal length. But all around is different from favorite. As Neuro said: depending on what I'm shooting I  use the lenses that I own.

I have used Canon since 2001. About a month ago I made some cash and  I wanted to upgrade my mark II. I studied the mark III and D810. For my hobby the D810 had better IQ/low ISO but after I started to find a 24-70 and a 100 macro lenses for it, I discovered that the best lenses are third party's lenses. Because I hate the out of focus shots with third party lenses I bought the mark III. IMO the 36 Mpx means nothing with 18-20 Mpx lenses (according to DXO). I just prefer 22Mpx camera with 18-20Mpx lenses.

Nice landscape. Romania, I assume. Where is the dam, or is that the name of a place?
This is Vidraru dam mounted on Arges river and creates lake Vidraru. As you said, Romania  :)

It is a good lens with IS and at a decent price, but nothing more than that.

It delivers consistently but it has absolutely nothing special about it.
Sigma 35 1.4 has something special ?

100% agree about 35IS. I am a hobbyist and I bought it in early october 2013 and since then it's glued on my 5D2. It's close-up capability made my 100L macro to collect dust (I'm not a true macro shooter). Beautiful colours, contrast, sharpness, weight, versatility.
