Lenses / Re: 70-200 2.8II or F4 for Zoo Shoot

The f/4 IS lens is wonderful, and plenty good wide open.  You will not have a need for f/2.8, so why carry that monster around?
Agreed. I own both and my option is f4IS.

35mm is my all around focal length. But all around is different from favorite. As Neuro said: depending on what I'm shooting I  use the lenses that I own.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: Why haven't you left canon?
« on: September 27, 2014, 04:31:15 AM »
I have used Canon since 2001. About a month ago I made some cash and  I wanted to upgrade my mark II. I studied the mark III and D810. For my hobby the D810 had better IQ/low ISO but after I started to find a 24-70 and a 100 macro lenses for it, I discovered that the best lenses are third party's lenses. Because I hate the out of focus shots with third party lenses I bought the mark III. IMO the 36 Mpx means nothing with 18-20 Mpx lenses (according to DXO). I just prefer 22Mpx camera with 18-20Mpx lenses.

Dam

Nice landscape. Romania, I assume. Where is the dam, or is that the name of a place?
This is Vidraru dam mounted on Arges river and creates lake Vidraru. As you said, Romania  :)

Lenses / Re: New 50mm Sigma ? There are other options !

It is a good lens with IS and at a decent price, but nothing more than that.

It delivers consistently but it has absolutely nothing special about it.
Sigma 35 1.4 has something special ?

100% agree about 35IS. I am a hobbyist and I bought it in early october 2013 and since then it's glued on my 5D2. It's close-up capability made my 100L macro to collect dust (I'm not a true macro shooter). Beautiful colours, contrast, sharpness, weight, versatility.

Lenses / Re: 24 f2.8 IS or 28 f2.8 IS ???
« on: December 12, 2013, 05:14:58 AM »
I had almost the same dilemma but finally: I got the 35 f2 IS for street, I sold the 40 (the colours are not excellent IMO, "only" 2.8 and no IS), I put first on my buying list the 24 IS and I am waiting for a new 50 in Canon's line.

Lenses / Re: When to use a 35mm and 50mm on full frame...
« on: November 01, 2013, 06:05:44 AM »
When you bring the 35, you often end up with "s..., I should have brought the 85". With the 50, you often end up with "s..., I should have brought the 24" or "s..., I should have brought the 100". That is 1 s... for the 35 and 2 s... for the 50. So if I only carry one prime, I use the 35  ;)
