Just keep practicing

Learn composition, perspective, lines, DOF, etc.

This will keep you busy for a while http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/

When I started photography I used to made up assignments with due date.

The greatest assignment that i ended up with was to make a complete alphabet from A to Z from ordinary things, objets, tea cups, even folds from clothing. The whole point of this was to sharp my eyes into seeing letters, things were people would not see.

EDIT. Try to stay away from LR presets.

one last tip to everyone.

NEVER EVER use any sort of alcohol mix to clean any of the internal parts of the shutter.

In this case, alcohol will ERASE focus points on the focus screen.

I once made this mistake too.

It wont affect IQ or any operation, but it is very annoying.

I bought mine of Ebay and cost arround 6 dollars. Installed it myself, just get good lighting, a good plyer and watch this tutorial http://www.focusingscreen.com/work/550den.htm

Get a blower too.

Hope this helps

...a wedding is not as easy as simply capturing a few key moments.

C'mon - how hard can it be?  Just set the camera to 'P' mode (that stands for 'Pro' right?) and click away...   ::)

Yes... P=Pro... green is for go...

the 24-70 L. forget about the cropped lenses. It is expensive and you will soon upgrade no doubt to full frame and you will not regret getting a full frame lens.

Or this, but would only do with the version II, version I is hard to get a good copy these days.

hi neuro,

Yes, that lens is superb, compared to L quality, if not equal and better at some cases, Ive read really good reviews about it, plus its wide.

But I do plan to move FF one day. I can always keep the 60D and the 17 55 for back up.

Hello all, been a long time reader, but not poster.

Ive been shooting since T2i came out, then my needs for a better camera got me a 60D, and never really care much for buying any glass since my canon 50 1.4 covered all my needs.

But now ive been asked to shoot couple weddings.

I know im going nowhere with my kit lens. I ve been also saving up some money because i knew one day i would have to buy a L series, and we all know they are expensive. My first lens was going to be the 70 200 2.8 II but im not sure if my kit lens is going to cut it at the wedding. I also shot events and video, most of the time, low light.

These are the lenses im looking at:

17 40 f4
16 35 f2.8 II
24 105 f4
24 70 f2.8 II ?

I also dont want this lens to be exclusive for weddings, all arround lens too. And i know most ppl will say get the 24 105 f4, but i do love to shoot wide.

Ive saved enough to buy 1 really expensive lens. And by expensive i mean the new 24 70 or was by default the 70 200

Help me choose on this, Thx

Mike
