Well, looking at that womans portrait I felt quite disappointed about 6D combined with an L-lense. With my 7d and 15-85IS USM I get sharper images! 6D can do it better, as it is shown in portrait of that little girl on canons sample site. And still even this one is far from glorius! I think it was taken by a click and shoot tourist walking by... If not, shame on canon! 
Anyway, I spent 2 minutes of my time and ran a little high-pass sharpening combined with rising contrast on that failed womans portrait. Ways better, as you can see below in the first row! (After that I got a little snotty and did the same to the nikon-image - just the other way around. * g * Perhaps those canon samples got a little sabotage?! Ehm...)
Well, Nikon MIGHT do a better job here. But couldn't it be possible that the Nikon-sample got a little postprocessing as well? Combined with a good out-of-cam picture it would not be a surprise that this beats the canon-crap-sample.
After all, those are not exact the same photographies. Different angle, different light and so on. For a fair comparison you NEED the same circumstances and published raws here. This is not given, so push those sample into the dustbin.

Well, some people will call this a "blasphemie". But if Canon could adapt Nokias pureview technology (http://i.nokia.com/blob/view/-/849564/data/2/-/Download1.pdf) to increase image-quality, especially high-iso would get quite a leap. Yes, first I thought "41mp cam in a smartphone. They're gone nuts!". But if you look at the taken images, well, at least in the p+s segment Canon could set up new fires.

I did not mean changing focus-mode. I meant switching between single and continuous shoot (max. 8 frames/sec).

That M-Fn one? Nope, does not work. And the other four ones have no influence on changing single-shooting to high-speed or low-speed continuous.

Hi at all,
well, what I am really missing is the possibility of a quick change between a single-shot and fast multi-shot. The need to use the quick-menue is quite awkward. If you could assign that feature to the "jpg-raw-switch-button" for example, it would be a real improvement.
So, why assigning a switch between single- and multi-shot? If I turn on fast multi-shot I often get two frames instead of the wanted single one. Perhaps I am too slow in releasing my finger or press it down too hard... but I bet I am not the only one. And If you bump into a situation where you need fast multi-shot it just would be -pressing that button
-selecting speed
-pushing "set"
and shoot. Instead of
-pressing "quickmenue"
-operating around to the right area via stick (what often is the most annoying part)
-spin the wheel
-pushing "set"
and shoot.
Personally, for me even the jpg-raw-switch functionality for the next picture could be abandoned. I never used it and don't feel any need to do so for saving some bytes. Converting a raw-file is not an expenditure...
