I just paid for FoCal Pro today and want to try the Mac Beta.

My only issue is that I can not log in to my account. It tells me it does not exist yet. Has anyone had this issue when first purchasing the software. Only thing I can think is that the paypal transaction has not cleared yet.

For those of you who shoot landscapes with a large stop difference between earth and sky (dawn and dusk); do you like to use graduated or solid ND Filters?

I have had good success with the 70-200 and 1.4 ext. Airahows would be the perfect venue for the new 200-400!

I owned the 14L 2.8 II and achieved some incredible captures. It just isn't feasible though unless you absolutely need it. I sold it and bought the 16-35 2.8 II and absolutely love it. Here is a shot from last night and a BW from this morning with it.

Lightroom 4 seems to mesh very well with the 1DX and allow a great deal of dynamic range.

Lenses / Re: How do you pack your lens hoods when traveling?

The reason I like them reversed on their lens is that when I reach into my bag to pull out a lens and use it, I don't want to also have to dig around separately to find the specific bud for that lens and remove it from its place in a stack of hoods.

I guess that I should clarify that this is more for when you are in transit to somewhere. I just tried nesting all of my hoods together and it works quite nicely. I can then coil up all of my battery cords and fill the void.

Lenses / How do you pack your lens hoods when traveling?

I travel quite a bit with my gear. I use a Thinktank Airport Security 2. I typically pack the lenses in the bag with the hoods on and reversed. This takes up so much additional room though compared to taking all of the hoods off and then nesting the hoods together and into one divider.

I am interested to see what other people do.

I want to download and use Reikan FoCal but it does not specifically state that it supports the 1DX. It does however state that it supports all Canon cameras that have AFMA ability.

Can someone answer this?

Lenses / Re: 50mm 1.2 vs 35mm 1.4

I sold the 50L to buy the 35L and made the right choice. The 50L requires way to much finesse to overcome the focus drift issue. The images from the 35L are incredible sharp. I will use it unless I am forced down to the 24L. If I need the 1.2, I will use the 85L and back up a few feet.

Well, we will see tomorrow if the 3rd 1DX is the charm. I am sending 1 back to BH do to successive Err 80's and 1 back to Norman due to extreme front focusing. I have to admit that looking at 2 1DX boxes on my desk is pretty cool.
