EOS Bodies / Re: A Bit of Mirrorless Informaton [CR3]

I don't think it matters much what they release now. Just to get some future posts out of the way...

That body is too big or small.
The sensor is too big or small.
The MP count is too many or few.
The kit zoom lens is too big or slow.
The prime(s) are too big and/or slow.
The AF is too slow.
It costs too much!

;D Nice Post, another one would be "It's not good as a 5D Mark III....or even a Mark IV for that matter :o" LOL geez.....
O yea "It's tooooo much noise at ISO 100"  :)

Lenses / Re: Question...To UV or not to UV...that IS the question!
« on: July 19, 2012, 04:38:57 PM »
To do or not to do....it just comes down to personal preference and anal retentiveness at the end of the day  ;D Like many have stated, I just use my filters when I know its going to be a non-ideal situation.  For probably 90% of my shooting, I don't use a filter.  Truthfully I probably wouldn't notice the filter on there, but I KNOW its on there and I don't want to risk the difference in image quality (because there will be one, just may not see it, hence the anal retentiveness  :) ).  Most who are enthusiast baby their glass anyway.  Some pro's do too.  I'm guilty of it during the first month or so.  Know your habits and how you handle your equipment.  If you are rough on your $1000 lenses use it, if not don't.  Definitely a personal call there.  It doesn't make you any more or less a photographer for using it though.

Have fun and shoot!....Spray and pray not recommended  :)

Lenses / Re: New Lends

Its not amateur question, those lenses are a substantial investment.  I think the 35L would do you very well in a dark indoor environment.  Its nice and wide on the 5D, perfect to get small groups indoors.  What comes to mind is the perfect "party group" lens (3 or 4 people).  Its sharp and built very well.  Its nice outdoors for city as well.  With your current line up you have a feel for the focal length.  See if that image quality in low light will give you that "wow" factor.  I would rent it for a 4 days at $41.25.  Look at it like this, you spend $41 bucks for a weekend to know for sure about a $1379 lens.  That's what 3%, I wish I could do that on stocks  :)

My 0.02 cents

Good Luck!

Lenses / Re: New Canon 50mm Coming? [CR1]

First Post on the forums.  Lots of Nice people here!  Glad to be among you all.  The 50mm 1.4 is selling at $369 currently, I'm amazed at the $849.  Just seems a bit unreasonable.  In my line of work we tend to reduce cost of production over time.  To increase the gap of profit to cost.  But the consumer pays the same or even less in some cases.   I just feel a little used with these new prices.  Just me though.  2.3 times the price of the current lens  :o
