Post Processing / Re: POLL: What picture styles do you use?
« on: November 16, 2014, 04:12:17 AM »
I like to go with standard or monochrome and RAW all the way, haven't noticed that much difference in using other styles. Raw just gives so much flexibility at editing point so I think it ain't that big deal what style you are on. Correct me if i'm wrong with this ???
I just like to use RAW+monochrome combination to see if exposure is correct, fast and simple way and whats even better when importing to LR you get colors back to image ;D

Post Processing / Star editing
« on: November 01, 2014, 09:30:19 AM »
Couple days ago I went to get couple pictures of stars before clouds rolls in and doing it for test purpose. Like never-ever edited star photos in the past... maybe 2 or 3 that's about it.
So back to beginning for the pictures. Took them with basic 30sec exposure at F2.8, ISO 2000 and 10sek selftimer to remove shake.
Some of the stars seems to be a bit "out-focused" but they aren't, there where a bit water spray going on at that windy weather so some of that spray got in my lens and made tricks to me.

Editing to that is all by LR and PS so what you think about that edit that I did for it. Over-edited or?

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: Why haven't you left canon?
« on: September 29, 2014, 07:10:56 AM »
Only thing that is holding me back now is money.. I don't have money to change for D810 - 14-24 + 24-70 F2.8 combo.
But since Canon is doing something with high megapixel body that might change my opinion. But I can wait still 7D still does what I need but I would love that extra sharpness.
But anyhow D810 is just a killer, dynamic range and noise reduction is just so ridiculous.

Photography Technique / Re: Back-button focus?

I really like back button focus it gives so much more control on camera. Basically on 7D I changed that it only meters on shutter and focuses only from that AF button.
Single shot for stills (landscapes)
Servo for moving objects for sports is just amazing.

For example if you are taking pictures of baseball you can use servo through whole session. First to use it focus to a batter so it locks on to him when batting, when he starts to go to first base you can just press AF button to start tracking him down the field.

This photo kind of surprised me, because those colors came pretty naturally in it.
It's HDR photo from 3 images, added them in photomatix, done that and then imported in LR and added like +5 to saturation and couple brush strokes of red in sky and water.

Hello CR!

Long story short.
During midsummer I went to cottage for couple days and that very evening temperature dropped just nicely few degrees down when it started to rain. It didn't rain for long but just enough to create this lovely smooth silky fog above the lake.
And what was even better than that. Was that swan family just passing by across to other side.

Also I tried to take HDR shot and have to say, I'm pretty pleased how it turned out!

Canon 7D, 35 & 55mm, 3exp. for Deck picture and single 1/60th for Swans, both F2.8 and ISO 200.

I found out the same, but I switched to macro photography now and been taking a ton of those now. Gonna change to landscape back when I got bored with macros. 8)

And most likely Nikon had to fix that backfocus issue what they had with D4.
