Hey Dustin,
I would like to say I always enjoy your posts even if I do not comment. It is great that you have the courage to put your thoughts, process and work out there for everyone to see.  I hope you never let your creativity be controlled by negative comments from others. Most of us here realize that tearing something down is so much easier, and less of a contribution, than putting yourself and your work out there.
Have a good one,
Andy

Awesome Dustin. Stars make a great subject. Your image has really attractive colours.

Dustin, I am shooting in both raw and jpeg format and I had Lightroom until I deleted my Adobe account yesterday.  I know I can improve that image a quite a bit with Lightroom but I do have the multiple images to work with and combine at some point. I think Photoshop has the ability to merge photos but I have not yet researched how to do it.
About the other tree. I think it is a Japanese Maple. It is in the Japanese Garden in Portland Oregon. Just an amazing garden with many photo worthy subjects. I imagine the tree is sporting those red leaves right now too. My version was unfortunately, just a snapshot as I did not have my tripod with me that day.

One more as tree as subject.  A difficult exposure for me as the tree had been scorched by an old fire an the sky was grey but quite light.  I do have multiple exposures since I was using a tripod but don't know how to combine them yet in a single image to get a natural look.

Thanks for the replies to my post.  Yes, the trees are redwoods.  I tried to post a couple other photos but they are not uploading for some reason.  I actually posted a different image than I intended and somehow ended up posting an unrotated image.  I will try to post a couple more tomorrow.
I am really enjoying everyone's the posted images and appreciate the feedback.  Here is one from my last camping trip.

Dustin, I tried a shot similar to yours this past summer.  It does have the harsh lighting but it still works I think.

Great location and composition is interesting and balanced.  I agree it would be nice to see a black and white version.  Colour does not seem to be the essential element in the image.

Jack, I think your 24-70 F4 on a 6D would have no problem matching or exceeding the IQ of these shots.  They were taken at f11 and your lens may even be sharper there.  The 24 mm is what I had so that is what I used.  It is a nice lens though and I enjoyed taking photos with it on the trip.  Most of the shots were at 1/6 or 1/15 sec so of course I was using a tripod.
I am a beginner and have lots to learn.  I am sure some of the more experienced photographers here would be able to suggest ways I could get even higher IQ with the equipment I have and I welcome any suggestions.

Thanks Carl.  The images were shot very early morning and the sun was on that hazy looking distant shore.  I exposed for the detail in the shadow and ended up with those washed out hills and mountains in the distance.  I did take multiple exposures but have not yet tried to combine them to get more detail.  I like the shots as they are though.
Thanks also for the reminder to add the data for the shots.
The ones previously posted and this next one were all 6D + 24mm f1.4 II, 1/6 or 1/15 sec at f11, ISO 100

Jack, really enjoying the bird photos.

Also, love the sunflower photo, feels like summer.
