EOS Bodies / Re: New 5D3 Raw video samples mind blowing!

This is insanely awesome.

But keep in mind:
* no audio recording
* only 24 minutes of 1920x1080 24fps RAW video in a very expensive 128GB 1000x CF card
* when editing on a very fast computer, playback is around 1.5fps

Personally, I don't have interest in a RAW workflow. However, it'd be nice to start with that an convert to Apple Pro Res 422 10 bit before I entered post and be way ahead of stock H.264.

I downloaded the new Video X profile on my 5DmkIII. Honestly, I'd say don't bother.

Cinestyle still has best retention of detail in the highlights.

On the up side, I liked the contrast and color better in the Video X profile, but those are all things you can bring back in post. Granted if your not too post savvy, maybe the Video X profile might be an ok option. (It just comes with a price.)

I agree with the other posters. I like the processing, but I don't get the story.

For starters, I'd work on your lighting and color grading.

For me, I really like the creative angles and the motion is nice.

However, There's too much contrast. You're black are very black. Additionally, the whole environment is very monochromatic. There are a lot of earth tones and very little contrast in color. I really think it's a little fatiguing to watch.

That all being said, this could have been exactly what the band wanted.

Body 5Dc

(I do a lot of journalism.)

There are no shortage of 5D's.

Basically, I envision no shortage of 5DmkII bodies as well.

I'm still rocking the 5D. Yes, there are some features that I'd like to have that newer cameras offer. (Tehtering, Live View, 100 percent VF, etc...)

However, I'm still working on my glass collection. Canon doesn't really have anything that speaks to me on a personal level and I'm not really making much money.

Being that I own a FF camera and could possibly get a back up for 600-700 bucks, it makes sense for me to stick with it until I really NEED an upgrade.

Besides...look at the attached image of my son.

For a camera that isn't supposed to be good at high iso, not great at focusing with outer focus points, and a lens that's a little soft wide open this isn't bad.

Canon 5D, 50 1.2L @ 1.2, ISO 3200, Outer focus point used for focus.

I don't know if anyone recommended it, but I'd open up to 2.8 and drop your ISO to 1600 or 1250 to give yourself more DR. Be careful with underexposing too much. The shadows can get a little nasty on the 5D line.

It depends on your needs. Keep in mind tethering is no longer supported with LR on Lion/ML. However, I don't have AF issues. I even use the out focus points on my 50 1.2L to get in-focus shots.

That said...The 6D is very tempting with it's extra low light sensitivity and light weight.

Lenses / Re: What 3 lenses do you dream of and long to own?

In addition to what I would be the:

24 1.4L
85 1.2L
300 2.8II

Those would be the most practical additions to what I do.
