Canon General / Should Canon expand the file Seq #
« on: April 13, 2014, 11:26:07 AM »
With all the pictures I take, the camera photo count rolls over.  Sure would be nice if Canon expanded the file count. would also benefit people wanting to know how my shutter releases have taken place??

EOS Bodies / 70D sd card slot obstruction
« on: January 30, 2014, 12:18:57 PM »
Hi Canonites!
I have the Canon 70D since it was released last sept 2013.  I have enjoyed it greatly and have put approx 8,500 on the camera to date.  But over the last month or so I have started to notice a issue in the SD card slot where there appears to be a slight obstruction (metal housing sticking out more sometimes not allowing you to insert the SD card properly. I have the Canon warranty plus extended one from Big box store.  Just wondering anyone else having a issue or notice the metal in the slot??  ANY OTHER NOTED PROBLEMS WITH THE 70d i NEED TO LOOK FOR? Ive called canon and no reported issues from engineering.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: 70D features vs 60D
« on: July 23, 2013, 09:00:05 AM »
thanks for the feed back. I am a 60D guy at present.  was just wanting to get a feel of the others out there.
I hardly do any video with my 60D at present.  and I do alot of lanscapes.  Just kicking around the idea of go with the 70D or wait for the 7D mark II.  the newer features of the 70D seem exciting.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / 70D features vs 60D

Opinion. everyone is talking about the dual AF feature of the 70D for video. striking that feature are the other features worth the step up to the 70D from the 60D or maybe wait for the 7D mark II?

HDR/Multiple

Ive seen  the Multiple effect used on Nikon from my camera classes  www.thephotoclassroom.com

I just saw the builtin HDR on the 5D  III looks interesting to use.  when I saw it I said I wish my 60D did that!

I too saw the manual and skimmed thru it. also it has a AUTO ISO feature.  looks like Canon is adding some 5D/7D/1D features to the 70D.  Wish they would allow the naming of the files with initials  Example IMG = RSB etc.  or maybe expand the file seq to greater than 4 digits.  is this a limitation to the File naming standards?
havING a seq # greater tthan 4 digits would help in future file names  but there is always the DPP software for renames.  OR IMnnnnnn.JPG or CR2   thoughts?

EOS Bodies / Canon 70D file naming format
« on: July 05, 2013, 08:04:47 AM »
Hey has anyone seen details/specs on the file naming standards on the 70D?  Hope Canon will allow custom names of the files (in Camera) with Initials instead of IMG... TD and 1D do this. as does Nikon.  or have to use the DPP during import.  Some times difficult to keep file seq separate when imports from various cameras. and the Seq # are in the same range.

EOS Bodies / Should I swap my 60D and $ for a 5D Mk II??
« on: March 12, 2013, 05:52:26 AM »
Question to Group.  My Sons friend is trying to go to Germany for school this summer and needs some extra $.
He has offered a swap of my 60D for his 5D Mk II and some $. My current setup is a 60D with BG-E9 Battery Grip.  The 5D Mk II  is without battery Grip.  I know the Mk III is out and soon a 70D will be upon us.  Should I make the deal? All of my Lens are EF except a Tokina 12-24.  I knows its going from APC to Full Frame and I would lose the extra Reach. Plus I would have to Get CF cards.  I want to help the guy. Just asking options.
I shoot a lot of landscape.

Technical Support / Canon 60D switched from Raw to JPG after 10k Roll
« on: November 04, 2012, 10:17:38 PM »
I was out shooting today at a Local Airport for there Warrior War birds Air show in (Monroe NC)
Using my Canon 60D I had it set for RAW.  During the Shoot. I forgot to reset time due to DST ending and I made the change after taking a few shots.
During the event the camera rolled over the 10k shots.  Later I discovered that the Camera switched from RAW to Large JPG.  Has anyone had this to happen to them?  I will admit it could of been me changing settings by mistake.   But I can not reproduce until I shoot another 10k.
