EOS Bodies - For Stills / Help! Error 20, Canon 50d
« on: July 12, 2012, 05:51:07 PM »
Hi all,

I have a Canon 50d and during continuous shooting it stops and i get " error 20, turn on and off and reinsert battery"

This happens every time a try and shoot continuously and occasionally just trying to take 1 shot.

I'm panicking because i'm going on holiday in two days and i dont want a broken cam! I'm also doing  365 so it could well and truly mess things up!

does anyone have any suggestions? help me please!

Lenses / Would Canon make a tele/super tele ef-s lens?
« on: November 17, 2011, 04:34:24 AM »
Just a thought that occured to me last night...

With canon's new L lens' and super tele's all seeming to be in the stratospheric price range, and no replacements for the "consumer" L tele's iminent (apart from the 100-400 rumored recently, but with a price increase to $2800 to go with it!) What do you lot reckon the chances of Canon making longer, maybe prime, EF-s lenses are?

TBH i expect the chances are quite low, but it makes sense (as a consumer).

As an APS-c user (50d) and wildlife 'tog, and never likely to go beyond the 7d or its replacement in terms of camera bodies something like a 400 f/5.6 or 500 f/5.6, with an ef's mount would be very interesting. The inherent advantages of not making it compatible with FF would make it smaller and lighter then a FF equivilent lens. With optics similar in quality to those in the higher end USM lens' (17-55 etc) and a USM motor, plus IS it would make a very attractive (to me) package.

Maybe 400 or 500 would be too long realisticaly, but i could perphaps see them making a 300mm ef-s, if it was f/4 it would be intresting, but if it was f/5.6 and tack sharp it could be priced very reasonably.

Thoughts anyone?

Canon General / Canon 28mm 2.8
« on: November 03, 2011, 06:27:22 AM »
Hi all, whats the general consensus on this the 28mm 2.8.

I'm on a seriously tight budget and need something wider. When i bought my camera (50d) a few years ago i was only interested in wildlife photography so i bought the body, sigma 120-400 and 50mm 1.8 II for "general use." I have since acquired the excellent 60mm 2.8 macro as well.

Up until now when i have needed a more general purpose lens i have been able to borrow a 18-55 kit lens, which is pretty dire as far as sharpness is concerned. Even stopped down its still soft! However i will no longer have the use of this lens shortly so need to cover the wider focal lengths.

TBH my budget is under £200, and i must buy from Calumet (because i have vouchers i can use), so second hand is out of the question. It looks like my choice is between the 28mm 2.8 and the Sigma 18-50 2.8-4.5. I was just going to go for the sigma but i worry that i will be disappointed with its quality, which got me thinking about the 28mm.
