Canon General / Travel Advice to National Parks in Utah
« on: September 02, 2013, 08:56:03 PM »
I have two questions I searched for answers to and couldn't find adequate enough answers.  I a m going to be going on a 2 week trip to Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef and Zion National parks soon.  I will have all my camera gear in a backpack (cary on) and will be flying into Salt Lake City with a direct flight from a big city, so I wont have to worry about puddle jumpers and small overhead storage.
1. In the past I have put my tripod in checked baggage, but am wary of doing so now as I have a good tripod I wouldn't want damaged or lost.  It will not fit inside of my back pack. How do you travel with your tripods when you can't fit them in your travel bag?  I was thinking of taking it as my second "small item" but am not sure if it is going to be deemed as a dangerous object.
2. Any recommendations for little known places from people who have been to these parks recommend?

An interesting article. I think the possibilities are pretty remarkable. Wasn't sure if this was the place to post but I figured it was the most relevant.

Lenses / New lens or body?
« on: July 06, 2011, 05:45:29 PM »
Hello everyone,

Right now I have an XSi and three different lenses : 70-300 f/4-5.6 IS, 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 IS (kit lens) and 100 f/2.8 Macro.
I was wondering if anyone could help out with whether I should wait for a new body such as a 7D Mk II/ 5D Mk III or to just get a 7D now or if I should get new lens now.  The lenses I've been looking at are a used 70-200 f2.8 L Mk I with an 2x extender or a 24-70 2.8 L.  Other recommendations are welcome!

I would like something that I can grow in to and not be limited by in the future.

I mainly shoot wildlife and landscape.
Price isn't really so much of an issue.
I've been shooting for about 4 years and I'm not that good but I like doing it a lot so that's all that really matters.
