In this thread please post some of the best wordpress themes for photographers, paid or free.

I would like this thread to be a good resource/quick reference for anyone looking for a good theme that can fit their needs without having to do a million google searches for that perfect theme.

I would like to do an engagement photo at this location with the couple standing in the archway but I would like full view of the train tracks behind it. Should I rent a super wide angle lens like a Canon 14MM or 17mm TS-E(pretty tall tracks) or should I use my 24-70 2.8II and shoot multiple frames and use some type of pic stitch software (if so please recommend which one)

in the process of putting together an RFP for a wedding, and would like to know what good photographers typically charge for an 7-8 hours worth of shoot time

Lenses / Graduation and Concert coming up which lenses to rent?
« on: November 25, 2013, 07:05:02 PM »
Graduation ceremony will be in a large college basketball stadium, so distance and low light will be needed.

The concert is going to be dark but it'll be in the floor area, so possibly can get some good close shots. Low light will take priority here.

Was thinking 70-200 2.8L II for the graduation and the 135L for the concert.

Is this a technical limitation of DSLR's?

Pricewatch Deals / Canon 135 L for $989 + $100 rebate, good deal?
« on: October 27, 2013, 03:06:28 PM »
Thinking about pulling the trigger on this bad boy.

I've used a 5d 2 and 6D to shoot videos, but it's very difficult to tell if the shot is in focus on the tiny LCD. Would I have to purchase an external field monitor?

Lenses / No one ever talks about the 28-300 L

Seems like the perfect walk around lens, especially for travel.

Why is it not more popular? Price?

Going to be taking some pics of a local landmarks in my neighborhood and would like to know what the best option would be for a weekend rental.

Photo's will be used in local publications about the neighborhood.

Lighting / Softbox Size question

I have two profoto D1 strobes, should I buy two softboxes of the same size or two different sizes?

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Black blob problem
« on: May 01, 2013, 11:18:48 PM »
Ok here is the issue, whenever I do a studio shoot and the subject is wearing black (regardless of the back ground color) the photo shows just a black blob unless i turn up the exposure in post which just makes the black more grey.

How do I get the photo to show the detail in dark black clothing?

Is this a dynamic range limitation?

Lenses / Which Lens Canon 85mm 1.8 or 135 L
« on: April 12, 2013, 02:24:33 PM »
Situation is I have a tight studio, reach on the 135 might be tight, but the optics are probably superior.

Want an 85 1.2 but can't really afford it. The 1.8 might be a good compromise based on price, smaller reach for tighter spaces, I kind of think 440 might be much when the 50 1.8 is $100.

EOS Bodies / Will Canon ever move into the Medium Format space?

with canons scale surely they could make MF affordable.

Lenses / Why aren't zoom lenses faster than 2.8?
« on: February 20, 2013, 08:56:25 PM »
Is it a business decision (ie dont want to canabalize the prime market) or a technical limitation (physically can't do it with current tech) or cost issue (technical difficulties would require that the lens be priced too high for target market)?

a few weeks ago I tested a D600 against a 7D at a costco, and the pics came out really bad (skin tones were inaccurate, and it looked overexposed), but today tried it again and it was much better. At under $2k for a bundle thats a fantastic deal. Will Canon adjust prices before Christmas?
