EOS Bodies - For Stills / A question for 5dmk3 and 1dx owners
« on: May 25, 2013, 02:25:15 PM »
Ok this may have been asked before if so i apologise.Who uses all the points on there cameras or do you still focus and recompose?i personally since getting my 5d3 and 1dx have been using all the points even the outer ones, but i think scrolling through the points can take time which can lead to missed moments so i am thinking in some situations to use focus and recompose again. What is your methods?

Speedlites, Printers, Accessories / 600 ex-rt into fresh water river
« on: April 11, 2013, 10:01:24 AM »
Well at the weekend i dropped my 600 ex-rt into a river :( i tried to use it straight after stupid i know but gave it a couple of days it was working but was taking ages to go off after turned off and a couple of other niggling things so i sent it to fixation in the uk who said it was corroding and was not worth fixing as they would have to basically replace everything inside the flash and the corrosion would spread,so they are sending it back along with a new unit £80 cashback in the uk which is a bonus. But my question is does fresh water cause corrosion that quickly it was under water for at least 10 seconds, and the 600ex-rt has weather sealing that equals the 1dx now this leaves me worried about my 1dx and rain how much can they take?i know it cant take 10 seconds in a river thats for sure.
so i will use the unit maybe as a third light if it works and when it breaks i will see if it blends lol.

So i bought professional photographer magazine here in the uk and there is a review from professional photographer mark rawlings. Now i am going to get straight to it he mention's 3 times his annoyance at having to press a button then the controller to move af point's 3 times he mentions this at its one of his major gripes with the camera!a simple custom function fix!so i contacted him on twitter and let him know how to fix it and my disgust twitter name (rawlimark) and his reply to me " i didn't go into custom functions as didn't have the space to,idea was to talk about design and using it out of the box.otherwise a review would read like an instruction manual which would be pretty boring read".
this is absolute rubbish he took time to mention 3 times his annoyance at it he just had to write a simple custom function fix.anyway if you guys feel the same get in touch with him on twitter.
rant over.
merry xmas :-)
