Lenses / green color cast with hoya 82 mm UV & IR filter on 16-35
« on: March 03, 2013, 12:35:18 AM »
Hi,

I am rather disappointed with the HOYA 82 UV IR filter on the 16-35. There is a very clear green color cast in the corners.

The slim UV filter that I have as well does NOT have this problem.

At 205$, this hurts.

Settings, 16-35 F2.8 L @16 mm, 1DX, F2.8, iso 250, 1/6400.

Stopping down helps, but even at F9.0 it is still visible

Hi,

does anybody have experience with the Manfrotto MVR911ECCN electronic remote?
Although it might be a good idea to use a "tethered" system for focusing, I am worried that the noise of the USM motors will be picked up, even with external microphones?

Furthermore, is the focusing accurate and fast?

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Does GP-E1 influence IS ?
« on: October 10, 2012, 05:44:02 PM »
Hi,

I have noticed something strange. 1DX, GP-E1, 70-200 II with 2X.

I had the camera at a 45 degree angle, so half way between landscape and portrait, the IS system was making noisy and I was unable to auto focus.
I switched the camera off , back on again --> everything fine, up to about an hour later when I was pointing upward to take a shot of a bird high in tree.

It looks like that at certain angles ~ 45 degrees the GP-E1 gets confused.

I tried without the GP-E1 and I am unable to reproduce the "problem"

My questions:
1) has anybody had the same problem?
2) is the GP-E1 info used for IS?

This is a minor problem, just switch camera off on and it is solved. I am just curious?

Regards,

Ben

Technical Support / 1DX, ethernet on MAC
« on: August 01, 2012, 09:46:31 AM »
Hi,

I have tried to setup an ethernet (RJ-45) connection between my 1DX and my MAC (lion). So far I have been unsuccessful.
I have tried both the FTP and EOSUtility options (2.11.4). My MAC clearly recognises the camera and assigns an IP address on the fly.
I am using the recommended cable a cat 6 twisted pair
Has anybody tried this?

« on: June 11, 2012, 12:28:31 AM »
Hi,

is it possible to add a device to 580EXII, so it can be RADIO triggered with an ST-E3 or an 600EX?

Thanks,

Ben

Third Party Manufacturers / Kenko lens2scope

Hi,

does anybody have experience with LENS2SCOPE? Does it have autofocus (HAHA)?

Anyway, this little gadget has the potential to give a new life to my "old" tele lenses, even if the image quality is far from superior.
