EOS-M / Canon EOS M Video Test
« on: November 01, 2012, 11:53:26 PM »

I picked up my new Canon EOS M this week and shot some video and pics to evaluate the image quality. It is almost like a Powershot in a Rebel body. The image quality is great, the new EF-M 22mm f/2 STM lens has dreamy bokeh and the small size makes the EOS M more convenient during travel for my quick positive evaluation. No for the annoying stuff. It is pricey compared to the other mirrorless brands, you have to electronically disable the AF of the EF-M lens to manually focus during video capture and just like the T4i/650D, the Hybrid AF servo still sucks. Oh well, I always focus manually during video.

I finally picked up a Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM pancake lens to test the Hybrid AF system with my Canon EOS Rebel T4i/650D. I think I set my expectations a little to high but the Hybrid AF system was a disappointment. Fortunately, the Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM pancake lens or "shorty forty" is an affordable, portable and extremely sharp lens with great color.

EOS Bodies - For Video / Canon Rebel T4i/650D Video Test
« on: June 20, 2012, 01:36:13 AM »

I picked up my Canon Rebel T4i/650D at my local brick and mortar and did a quick video test to evaluate the video quality and the newly fangled touchscreen LCD. I did not have time to try out the new Hybrid AF tracking system because the sun was quickly fading.

The video quality was just as good as the previous T3i. I was hesitant to like the touchscreen at first but it comes handy when choosing and magnifying a focus point quickly. Other than that, the T4i is quite amazing for a Rebel.

I also created a modified .plist for the Canon E-1 Movie plugin v1.3 for Final Cut Pro for the Canon Rebel T4i/650D. I attached the .plist to this post for closer viewing and the instructions are listed in my photoblog link above.

Enjoy!

I did a quick video test using my new Canon Rebel T3i with a IGUS Drylin Camera Slider. I used iMovie'09 to put the clips together.

EOS Bodies / IGUS Drylin Camera Slider Video Test with Canon 1D Mark IV
« on: January 21, 2011, 02:42:25 PM »

I did a quick commercial production shoot over the holiday weekend with a Canon 1D Mark IV and the IGUS Camera Slider. Skeptical at first, I thought the $150 cinematic tool from IGUS on Amazon performed really well considering the great price.
