EOS Bodies - For Stills / Film! What's the best Film left? Just got an EOS 1V Film SLR... and an FD A-1...

Hello everyone!!! 

As the title says. I just picked up an EOS 1V... or at least it will be in my hands at the end of the week. I also will have an FD mount Canon A-1.

So... What is the best film to use? What are the best options left? I prefer black and white for the most part, but I will also use some color and IR as well. Any difference in what I should use in the 1V vs the A-1?

Any thoughts on what FD lenses I should pick up for the A-1? I have a little budget for this, but most seem inexpensive.

Also, any other film tips?

I am doing this poll mostly because I am in the market for a film body. Right now I am still leaning towards an EOS 1V or an AE-1 Program and getting a few FD lenses. Please let me know what y'all think, what y'all like , and why!

Hello!

So I have had horrible experiences buying tripods... My last one was this $120 Rocket Fish one that was advertised as heavy duty. I've barely used it, and the metal locking mechanism on one of the legs sheered right off. Not it won't stand up on its own for more than a minute or so before the leg kicks out. Too hazardous for my Canon.

So, what tripods do y'all have experience with? Top Pick? Most Economic Pick? Most Convenient? Ect...

Canon General / Tips for Shooting Fireworks

As the title says. Never shot fireworks before. Looking for the best tips, settings, lens combo, ect.. and any other good info you can provide. I have a 7D and T3i, 70-200 f/2.8 L MKII, 24-105 f/4 L, 10-22 EF-s, 100mm Macro f/2.8 L, 2X extender MKIII, 50mm f/1.8. Plus I have a tripod on the cheap single button canon remote.

Lenses / 100 L Macro rattle???? Is this normal???

Hello.

I bought the 100 L Macro IS USM and I have found that it rattles on the inside. When you pick it up you can hear something hitting the sides. Someone told me that this was the hybrid IS, but it seems way too excessive to me. Thoughts? Any one else have this problem?

Canon General / GPS Receiver GP-E2 and 7D

Did anyone else notice that the new GPS receiver that came out with the 5D MKIII can be used in the 7D?
It looks like you just need to update the firmware on the 7D to use it. It has some restrictions when used with the 7D movie modes it seems. Also it says it can be used with the 1DX, so that gives photographers that have more than one body the option to buy just one receiver for them all seeing as the GP-E1 only works with the 1DX. I think it's nice that they decided to keep the 7D in mind. Might also be an indication that they are going to leave the crop sensor line of bodies alone for a bit longer than usual. At least the 7D anyway. Thoughts? How many people think they would use the GPS on your 7D? Is it worth it to get one for the 7D? Is geo tagging really that important of a piece these days, or is it more of just a cool thing to add on? Here are the specs from the Canon web site.

For simple and accurate recording of time and location information, Canon's compact GPS Receiver GP-E2 is the perfect complement to the EOS System. The GP-E2 records location information such as longitude, latitude, elevation, direction and Universal Coordinated Time (UTC) as EXIF data, while also serving as an electronic compass on camera or off. EOS Bodies - For Video / 5D MKIII and iPad 3rd Gen.

Looking to expand some capabilities here. Have a few scenarios.

Will it be possible to use the new iPad as a external display while filming with the 5d MKIII?
Can it or the iPhone 4s be used to remotely view stills as they are shot?
Can either be used as a remote for the 5D MKIII?
Can it be used to assist in offloading a few photos and do some quick edits?

As far as that last one, I know the 5D MKIII now has an SD card slot, so you could just use the camera adapter kit for the iPad to offload a few quick shots and edit in the new iPhoto for iPad app or in a ton of other apps. Also seagate makes a wireless hard drive just for the iPad and similar tablets. The go flex satellite. We have used them in the past to off load stills and video in the field to be able to review on the larger screen and store in the hard drive. Not a bad set up, better than taking a laptop out there on video shoots just to get a better review.

I'm looking at the new hi def display of the iPad 3 and it would be amazing if it could be used as an external display in real time.

What do y'all think? With the new technology in the 5D MKIII and iPad 3 make any of this possible? Any other cool things that could be done with the Canon/Apple/Seagate trio that I may have missed?

Has any one used the Canon 320 EX Speedlite? What were your thoughts? How was it for photography? Studio? How about Video? Was the LED Video light useful or worth it? How bright is it? Do you think it is best suited for the 5 D MKII, 7d, 60D, or Rebel Series? Any other thoughts? Thinking of getting one for my 7D. I do both Stills and HD Video. I have a T3i as well.
