EOS Bodies - For Video / The Three Best Lenses for Filmmaking?
« on: September 08, 2012, 12:15:04 PM »
If you could choose three lenses for filming on Canon DSLR, what would they be and why? I've been looking at the Canon 28mm 1.8, 50mm 1.4, and 85mm 1.8, since they cover all the range (on a full-frame, anyway). Thanks!

EOS Bodies / T4i or 60D?
« on: May 23, 2012, 06:41:55 PM »
Hey everyone. I thought I would repost this since it's more relevant now: How do you think the Canon T4i will compare to the 60D? Just curious.

Lenses / Buy 60D with Pro Lenses or 5D with Kit Lens?
« on: March 31, 2012, 07:19:51 AM »
Hey everyone, I was wondering what would be better, to buy the 5D Mark III with the kit lens (limited budget), or 60D (or T3i/T4i) with some pro lenses such as 24-70, 70-200, and/or primes. I personally think the 5D is a better option although I won't have the best lens kit as I will only have the 24-105. What would you guys do?

Lenses / 24-70/70-200 (2.8 II) or Canon Primes?
« on: March 24, 2012, 09:34:45 AM »
Hi. What lenses would be wise for a beginning filmmaker/photographer? (I use stills and video equally). The 24-70 and 70-200 would be great for the range and the 2.8 aperture is useful. However, primes are sharper and have lower apertures. The primes I'm considering are the 24mm 1.4, 35mm 1.4, 50mm 1.2, 85mm 1.2, 100mm 2.8, and 135mm 2.0. Yes, the primes added up are more expensive, but they are an investment. Is 2.8 useful enough for low light? The zooms seem more versatile and covers a very good range. Also, I'm planning on getting a 5D, so it seems good for full-frame. So what would you guys do, invest in primes or zooms first? Thank you!

EOS Bodies / Buy 60D or Save for 5D?
« on: March 22, 2012, 12:08:39 PM »
Hey guys. I'm in a huge dilemma. I'm going to buy my first DSLR (yeah I'm pretty naive) and just won $3,000. I can't decide whether to buy a Canon 60D (plus 28mm 1.8 and 50mm 1.4) or just save for a 5D Mark III (plan to spend around $5,000 with lenses and accessories). I'd use it mainly for video although I do have an interest in photography. The 5D is obviously the better camera and I don't really need a camera right this second. However, would a 60D (or maybe a T3i) be better for me since I'm a beginner and would it be a better starter DSLR. Or will I regret not buying a 5D. I would love full-frame and its photography benefits, but is it a good starting point. So what should I do, buy a 60D or save for 5D Mark III? Thanks guys!

EOS Bodies / Cinema DSLR Price?
« on: March 18, 2012, 10:27:19 PM »
I don't think it will be more than the C300, but will it be sub-$10,000? My guess is it'll be in the $6,000-$10,000 price range, but what do I know?  :D

What are your thoughts?

EOS Bodies - For Video / Best Lenses for Video for Canon 5D Mark III?
« on: March 14, 2012, 08:00:43 AM »
Hey guys. I plan on purchasing a 5D Mark III soon, but there are a couple problems. One: I don't own any lenses (compatible with full-frame). Two: I'm on a budget (So can't get things like 70-200 2.8) What would you recommend. So far, I've been considering the 24-70mm 2.8 (instead of kit lens), 50mm 1.8, and 85mm 1.8. What should I add/change/remove and why? These lenses will mainly be used for video but will be taking a few stills with it. Thanks!

Lenses / Canon L vs Zeiss ZE
« on: March 10, 2012, 09:23:26 AM »
Hi. I'm having a dilemma. Should I invest in Canon L glass or Zeiss ZE primes? Both seem like great lenses, but what seems more future-proof? Thanks for any help!

EOS Bodies / Buy T3i or Wait for T4i?
« on: March 09, 2012, 03:36:07 PM »
Yep. This is probably the oldest question, we go. I can afford to wait, but based on rumors and your opinions, what should I do? I'd hate to buy the T3i and be disappointed for not being patient when the T4i comes out, but I don't know how long to wait. What would you do? Does anyone have any idea when it might come out? Thanks for any help!

EOS Bodies - For Video / Best Lenses for Video?
« on: February 20, 2012, 07:32:01 PM »
Hi. What lenses would you recommend for video/film production? I've heard the Zeiss ZE set is the way to go, but I've also heard Canon L glass is great too. Which is better/higher quality to make a movie with? Thanks!

EOS Bodies / 4K DSLR?

Is this going to be announced along with the 5D, or is it not even developed yet, just a prototype? Any news on the Cinema 4K DSLR?
