EOS Bodies - For Stills / Would switching to FF hurt my macro??
« on: December 03, 2012, 09:46:43 PM »
Hi, I've posted on here before about my dilemma about upgrading from T2i to either the 7D or 5D2 (mainly just to have a 2nd body to carry).  I shoot pretty much anything.  I'm leaning towards the 5D2, but I was wondering how it is with macro.  I love having the extended reach of my crop sensor T2i and I was just wondering if I would miss that on macro shots with the 5D2.  I know I would still have the T2i but I'm sure I would have the 5D2 with me alot more.  I like to just go for walks looking for bugs and small items to shoot (hand held).  I was leaning towards the 7D because I shoot wildlife, but I don't really need the extra fps so I don't think I need it too much over my t2i.  I do enjoy landscapes so the 5d2 would be nice.  I'm just curious about it's macro capabilities.

Thank you

EOS Bodies / 7D vs 5D2???
« on: November 20, 2012, 03:29:20 PM »
I'm sure this has been covered a dozen times before but I'm really struggling to make a decision.  I want to upgrade from my T2I but I still plan on using it extensively.  I shoot mainly wildlife, old buildings, anything in nature.  I currently own a canon 10-22, 24-70v1, 100-400L and 1 of my favorites, the 100 macro.  I love the extended reach of having a crop sensor so I was leaning towards the 7D (although I do not shoot sports).  I think all of these lenses minus the 24/70 tell me to go 7D.  I think I would miss that extra reach if I went with the 5D2, but I do like the thought of better low light capabilities.  I feel I'm a little limited on the crop sensor with my 24-70 but I can always back up. I was discussing my dilemma with a friend and he suggested a 5D2 with a 1.4 extender.  Would that somewhat equal out the reach id be losing by switching to full frame?  I would love any help on this.

EOS Bodies / do crop sensors really add reach?
« on: October 18, 2012, 01:53:13 PM »
I have a t2I.  I've always been very happy with it, but I would like to buy a new camera.  Basically so I don't have to switch lenses as much.  I shoot pretty much anything.  Mainly wildlife, nature scenes, and old buildings.  I thought if I'm buying a new camera maybe go for the 5dmrk2.  I worry about losing reach on my wildlife pics.  Would I really lose reach or can I just crop all the way down to what I would get with my t2I?
As far as lenses go, I have a canon 24-70 2.8, 100-400L, 10-22, and 100 2.8 macro.  I think if I go with the 5dmrk2 my 24/70 would be great, but id also have to find an equivalent ultra wide angle.  Are the low light capabilities of the 5d2 really worth me adding that camera, keeping in mind I still plan on carrying my t2I on my hikes?

Lenses / best wide or ultra wide angle lens for crop sensorh
« on: August 16, 2012, 09:12:40 AM »
Hi, I'm finally ready to add a wide angle lens to my collection.  I mainly want it for landscapes, inside historic houses, and some closeup work (flowers and things).  I was thinking the canon 10-22 but I would love to hear opinions on this or other lenses.

Thank you

Lenses / Used Lenses
« on: June 03, 2012, 09:14:49 PM »
I've never bought a used lens before.  I was wondering, is a used lens from KEH or B&H listed as EX+ condition very reliable?  I think it probably is, but I'd like a little reassurance before taking the plunge.

Lenses / Best general purpose lens?
« on: June 02, 2012, 03:28:16 PM »
I've been back and forth for months now on which my best choice for a good all purpose walk around lens would be.  I take mostly wildlife, old buildings, old gravestones, some sunrise/sunsets....basically everything.  I do like some zoom on it, but already have a 70-300, so don't need too much.  I'm using a T2i with the 18-55 kit and ready to upgrade.  I'd appreciate any help on this.

Canon General / Importing photos
« on: May 20, 2012, 09:15:43 PM »
I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post this.  I import my photos using the usb cord.  I'm pretty sure that I used to import the pics and be done.  Take more photos over time, plug it in and it would just import the new ones.  Now when I plug it in if there are still older photos on the disc it will import them (again) along with the new ones.  Is there a way to get it to import just the new photos on the card or do you have to delete the old ones to keep it from importing them again?
Thank you for any help.

Lenses / What to do??? 24-70 2.8L version 1
« on: May 07, 2012, 09:00:47 PM »
Hello, I've been using my kit lens for several years.  I finally decided to teach myself how to take actual photographs with manual/av/tv settings.  I have a 70-300, 100mm macro, and my kit 18-55.  I'm ready to get a better everyday lens.  I am really interested in buying the canon 24-70 2.8L v1.  However, a few weeks ago when I first really started to look into buying it, I'm pretty sure I saw it at $1300 new.  The cheapest I'm seeing it now is $1500, and on amazon anywhere from $1700 to $2100...for version 1!!  In the forums opinion would it be best to just buy it at $1500 or wait to see if it goes down later this year, maybe when version 2 comes out?  Or, should I just keep saving up and pay a little more for v2??  I don't know if I'm that comfortable paying that much for a lens, but if the v1 keeps going up....
Any help is greatly appreciated!
