EOS Bodies / Canon 1DX in stock, 7/20/12
« on: July 20, 2012, 04:01:22 PM »
Hey everyone, I wasn't one of those folks who pre-ordered the 1DX and decided just to wait it out and see if there are any bugs or anything before I committed myself to the 1DX. Being an early adopter can be a pain sometimes. After hearing lots of positive feedback and info on only a few minor bugs I decided it was time to buy. But everyone has been pre-ordering this camera since March so how the heck was I supposed to get one in the next couple of months?

As it turns out, a friend of mine sent me a message to let me know that Murphy's Camera in Lexington, KY had filled all of their pre-orders and have 4 in stock! Well, they had 4 but I bought one but there are still 3 left!

You can contact Don Barker at 859-255-1013 to see if you can snag one of these amazing cameras. I opted to drive 2 hours to pick mine up so I could have it for a wedding this weekend but of course they will ship it to you.

I'll be working on my review and maybe even post a few tonight.

I have been browsing around for more 1DX samples just to get an idea of what to expect with high ISO settings and dynamic range but I'm rather disappointed with the number of people who have claimed to have received the 1DX and haven't posted a single photo. Yeah I know you have your fancy new toy and are probably busy playing with it but when you get the time, remember those of us who are still waiting for our bodies and post a shot to show how well it handles skin tones and such.

While browsing Google I found a youtube video from Borrowlenses.com which gives a decent overview of the 1DX. They even do some comparisons with the 5D3 at high ISOs which was nice of them. Some AI Servo tracking comparisons would be killer if anyone out there has both cameras.

Here are some other reviews and previews I have found. They aren't very in-depth, nor do they have a ton of samples (if any) but it's all we have for the moment.

Lighting / Canon 600EX-RT review
« on: June 18, 2012, 06:05:38 PM »
My review of the 600EX-RT is now online! I used three 600EX-RT's and shot in a lot different scenarios including weddings, portraits, and action with high-speed sync using the new wireless radio TTL capabilities. I included tons of info with many sample photos and descriptions of the shots. Enjoy!

Speedlites, Printers, Accessories / Canon 600EX-RT review
« on: June 18, 2012, 04:30:19 PM »
I just finished writing a very detailed review for the 600EX-RT. I have three of these right now and would love to have more. You'll find details for setups in a variety of different locations and events in the review. I tried to be as detailed as possible but if you have any questions about anything that wasn't covered just comment below and I'll continue to update the review over time.
