Lenses / History behind the white lens

Is there a thread relating to the history/reason for Canon using white for it's premium lenses?

I also notice that Sony has a couple of white lenses as well.

EOS Bodies / 60D Pricing

I am starting to see sale pricing on the 60D.  Last time I observed sale prices like this, the T4i replaced the T3i.  While these are just internet prices and Canon Store prices, I will keep an eye on local brick and mortar shops in the Detroit area to confirm my suspicions.

Could this be a build up to the October anticipation of the 6D?

Is the 70D nearing release to the masses?

Lenses / Looking for reviews of the Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8

I realize there are two versions of this lens (with and without image stabilization),  so thoughts on either would be appreciated.  To begin with, are Tamron lenses any good?  I see they are much less expensive that Canon or Nikon, or even Sigma ...  That usually does not bode well.
