Third Party Manufacturers / Quality Manual Lenses
« on: March 28, 2013, 02:20:55 PM »
I'm mostly a video shooter with my 60d. I'm on a tight budget so I've been considering old manual lenses, although I'm having a hard time finding reviews for them. Therefore I'm always hesitant to press the buy button, I don't want to end up buying a complete piece of junk.

Are there any manual lenses or brands that you guys enjoy using (for either video or stills)? Any lenses you would stay away from? Thanks for your help!

Lenses / Rokinon 35 f1.4 for video
« on: July 28, 2012, 05:12:45 PM »
I'm a filmmaker about to upgrade to DSLR. When it comes to glass, I've heard that variable-aperture zooms are a no-no for video. I'm thinking my best bet is to start with a solid prime (but what do I know?)

I've been eyeing the Rokinon (Samyang) 35mm f1.4 for its build quility, image quality, and onboard aperture adjustment. Good investment for a first lens? Or other lens suggestions?

EOS Bodies - For Video / 60D vs. 650D
« on: July 14, 2012, 09:20:01 PM »
I know that this has been one of the biggest debates since the 650D came out, but I haven't seemed to find any definitive answers.
From a film standpoint, is the 60D still the better camera? Or has the new technology of the 650D outdone the 60D?

For context, I personally make short films and vlogs. This will be my first DSLR.

Your opinions? :)
