Canon General / Shutter Assembly Replacement
« on: October 04, 2012, 08:01:03 PM »
So I was going to get a 1dx because I didn't want to spend 3K+ for a used mark iv however I have a friend who will give me a good deal on his old one but it has 270k+ shutter clicks lol so I figured I'd have to replace it. He said he take off however much it costs. I am a premium cps member so idk if that'd help, but does anyone know?? I figured somewhere 300-400$ range?

Animal Kingdom / Tracking Birds?
« on: September 01, 2012, 03:07:47 PM »
I've been shooting a lot of birds lately and one problem I've been having is keeping them in focus while flying. I have tried al servo, regular etc, and once in a while I'll hit in spot on, but usually in a burst out of 15 photos 3 will focus on the bird lol. Is there a technique or tip anyone might have for all those fast birds out there :)?

using mono pod or ball head w/ 500mm sometimes with 1.4 or 2x extender

Third Party Manufacturers / Induro Gimbal Hold A 500mm?
« on: August 30, 2012, 06:39:41 PM »
I saw this that it would mount in a bh55 rrs but says up to 300mm. I was just wondering if it would hold the 500mm for a gimbal effect instead if buying a whole gimbal head. Or does anyone know of something similar that can hold the 500?

« on: August 19, 2012, 10:41:18 PM »
Is there any computer program for Mac that can compile a time lapse together other than cs6? Cs6 seems to take forever and doesn't seem to keep the quality of the photos

Third Party Manufacturers / Good Wireless Mic For Video??
« on: August 18, 2012, 09:08:24 PM »
I have a canon hf m500 and am looking for a wireless mic I can use with it that I can use for video. There are a lot out there but so many say the ones for $100 are crappy and I don't want to spend like $600. I'd be using outdoors and in doors. When outdoors the camera would be aside filming me I guess while I take pictures type of deal while I talk. So something with decent range that's affordable and compatible with the camera lol.

Technical Support / 60D Dust Help
« on: August 18, 2012, 08:07:16 PM »
So the sensor is spotless, however when you look through the view finder you can see specs of Idk what. Guessing dust, and my local camera cleaner guy said it was in the mirror which he doesn't clean because it has to stay at a certain angel etc and didn't want to mess with it. So my question is the dust and stuff in either the mirror or somewhere in the view finder don't affect the images in anyway but are a super pain because Its blocking my view when shooting macro and some landscape. So if anyone knows exactly what it is or how to slove it please let me now but if it has to be sent to canon so be it

Lenses / 500mm f/4.5 focusing help?!?!?
« on: August 16, 2012, 04:34:29 PM »
So I recently got a 500mm f/4.5 I bought the lens of course for the focal length. So, I popped it on the 5D mark 3 expecting the image quality to be fantastic! So, I went out front where I have a bird feeder, and set the lens on a tripod about maybe 20-30 feet away from the feeder. When birds would fly in and land bam, focus was snappy and lock on instantly to take the picture. The images looked dead sharp on my LCD. But when I put them in my computer non cropped or zoomed in the images would be sharp where I focused. However if I zoomed or cropped in to a bird the bird would be soft. Yet the feeder or something next to it would be sharp. So I tried micro adjusting the lens many many many many many many times lol, and cannot tell a difference. From far away, up close medium range they are all dead sharp and when I zoom or crop in I cannot tell a difference. They all look exactly the same. Does anyone know if maybe I'm to far away from the small bird and if I want to take a picture of one it needs to be closer? Or am I doing something wrong as far as using the lens sense I'm new to the super telephoto range?? Also, if the lens is at f/8+ they are super crisp and sharp. So if anyone can help please please post lol thanks

Lighting / Lighting for home videos?
« on: August 14, 2012, 08:20:31 PM »
I've been filming a lot recently at home with my 5d3 because it has the ability to have the high iso and still keep good quality. But, I'd like to get 1-2 continues lights, probably fluorescent, that will produce good light so I can flim with different cameras and not have to worry about it being to dark.

EOS Bodies / 1DX Worth the Money?
« on: August 14, 2012, 08:17:41 PM »
I'm currently shooting with a 60D and 5D Mark iii. I was originally going to get the 1dx but the 5d iii came out sooner. I wanted something with high fps, and am wondering is it worth spending the money. I know it's an amazing camera, however a 1d mark 4 is a lot cheaper lol
